Post-Game Talk: Game 4

I would have taken 2-2 at the start of the series. But this hasn't been an encouraging way to get here.

Panarin continues to be a waste of money against the best, most aggressive teams. Zibanejad relies on the PP to an epic degree, to have an offensive impact. Our defense corp, with Fox injured, can't move the puck under pressure to save their lives.

Playoff Shesty is Playoff Hank. Lafreniere is doing everything he can to create offense. A few other guys are fine. But this game could have been 7-2 pretty easily; we sucked.
And yet, most of this series when Panarin is on the ice the Rangers outshoot Florida, which means that the other lines are being outshot 80-5.

But the uninformed grasping for straws blame one of the few holding up his end of the game.

Never mind that with Fox playing on one leg, only Schneider leaves the zone with possession once in a while.

Lindgren mostly gets smashed into the boards, Gustaffson sometimes looks like an asset, but usually not, and no point in even discussing Trouba anymore.

The mystery man is Miller. I've never seen a player who only looks good at four-on-four.

Jones would currently be the Rangers 3rd best dman, but he can't "hold up", yet Lindgren is ragdolled multiple times a game.

Imagine the difference a Makar, Hughes etc,. would make to this group.

He won't be. They won't even play a "healthy" Chytil consistently.
I’d be very surprised, yes.

I think they should shuffle the forward lines. That’s the best I’m hoping for.

But I’m not convinced that the combinations are the issue.

Fla is playing at the top of their game here. We have a lot of things we can fix and even so they needed biased refs and a pp in ot to beat us.

Thats why we can win this. We fix a few things and win. Fla has nothing to fix, this is as good as they get.

Plus we have home field advantage.

Hopefully Lavi is tinkering with his toolbox, strategizing, motivating as we speak. We can play better, we can win it.

Just got this email. Think they may be getting desperate

Lavi isn't going to start changing lines or the defense at this point.he's going to ride or die with what we have.just have to hope they wake up next game

What adjustments can coaches make about the Rangers playing like little bitches and getting physically dominated.
Yes, he should have the loser mindset like you and just give up. They can make adjustments how they defend, roster moves, they also have last change at home, etc. Little things go a long way. There have been countless times this year that they have played poorly and looked much better the next game. He has done a pretty good job with that and needs to do it again. Since you are convinced it's over then don't watch and you enjoy the summer now. I will be watching on Thursday night.

That's why I'm a bit more let down than usual.

Game 3 sucked and game 4 arguably sucked more.

Granted, they won game 3, and I understand why coaches come down less hard when the team wins.

Hopefully, that's what happens and we get the signature Lavi response in game 5.

Jones is becoming a meme on here.

He's fine but he's a bottom pair D and he's not fixing anything.

Plus, he would be coming out for Gustafsson which is lateral.

We need to improve our top 4.

It's Game 5 of the ECF. Win two of the next three or the season's over. We need to improve the top 4, but that's not happening now. It's an issue that 100% needs to be addressed this summer, but at this point in the here and now, throw shit against the wall to try to win two of the next three games. Jones isn't elite by any stretch of the imagination, but we've seen what the current six can do.

Unless Laviolette has something up his sleeve, I feel like we're just going to get a repeat with this same group in Game 5. And we'll be praying Igor turns into God and stops every puck. In practical terms, is Jones magically fixing all our problems? No, but what other option do we have right now?

Ultimately, I'd be floored if Laviolette puts him in there in Game 5 of the ECF, so most likely a meaningless discussion in the end. What other things can we try that are actually plausible? New pairings? New breakout tactics/strategy that dramatically simplifies things for our backend? Load Igor up on massive amounts of Adderall enroute to a 43 save shutout in Game 5?
