Jones is becoming a meme on here.

He's fine but he's a bottom pair D and he's not fixing anything.

Plus, he would be coming out for Gustafsson which is lateral.

We need to improve our top 4.

My biggest takeaway is that our D have to skate past the first forechecker, the passes are getting cut off too much, it's continually getting pushed back into our end. That needs to get fixed. 2nd is they should probably make up some new lines to spread out the talent over 3 lines so that Florida can't shut down everyone. Panarin is getting smothered with their best shut down guys, so put him on line three and let them smother him, then let the Trochek and Laf pairing do some damage away from the shutdown guys.
3rd Chytil needs to get back in as we are a a man short in the top 9 without him.

If its going to fail lets put them all together make the fail spectacular

This line gives up nothing and thats fine.

Rempe-Goodrow-whoever
Just dont play them much. Move Goodrow up to spell players.

Miller-Fox
Put these 2 together and overplay them. Fox was skating better last game and lets be honest if we can ride him to the cup we aren't winning the cup anyway.

Gustafsson-Trouba
The only partner Trouba that has not been an epic statistical disaster.

Lindgren-Schneider
These 2 have been a disaster together and I would rather having a rusty as hell Jones in there but Lindgren is going to play and one pair is going to be garbage so it might as well be the 3rd pair. Play them as little as possible.

I'm not particularly married to Zibanejad like I am with Kreider. I could do with or without him.

I just don't think he anywhere near addition by subtraction, and I don't think replacing him is realistic.

He's pretty firmly our 2C. Who are the second line centers who are better?

I don't think it's really the issue.

Nobody is arguing against improving the top 4.

We were a better team at transition with BOTH Lindy and Trouba out. It is still a CHOICE to play oafs over better puck movers.

I think Gus has been horrendous and he’s been that way since before the playoffs. Jones while not a savior would add the fox lite puck movement from the back end and add more offense. Gus is trash.
 
Please tell me was Chytil that bad that he couldn't have helped that pile of dogshit we saw last night? Maybe use his legs to skate the puck up the ice a few times? Even Hank was talking a few games back how he could be a big help in this series by using his speed and shot. Now he can't get in the lineup over guys like Roslovic/Wheeler/Rempe (albeit now you have to keep Rempe in lineup for game 5).
 
I feel like pre 2021 Mika was way more physical, would use his body more, would brush defenders off more than he does today, but this is me going off my shitty memory. Just doesn't seem the same, he is aging.

With that said, at times last night (other nights as well) it felt like we were so concerned with having 3 back that we just give up on the forecheck. Like if the one guy pressing doesn't retrieve, we're done, get back get back get back.

They said that they’re managing his time and the plan was to have him off last game.

I don’t love it, but considering his come back, I can’t fault them for prioritizing his health over a game.

Kreider is the culprit here - a gutless cockroach of a series thus far .

This is who Kreider always was until he hit 31 when he blossomed.

However he’s back to old head case Chris Kreider - an introverted head job.

We lose this series and I wouldn’t say no to dealing anyone except Igor Vinny Laff .

Hit the brakes on #20 going to the rafters.

Just a suggestion: I know he's a fan, can we get Eli to talk with the team?

And while he's talking with them, play the 2011 NFC Championship Game for them; how it was possible for the Giants to not only make it to the big dance but win it all because Eli had to first wear the 49ers.

The team performed it's best when Jones was in for Trouba during the regular season.

I mean, I agree that the coaches are not going to be wise enough to sit the "captain" for a decent 3rd pairing guy. But I actually believe changing the D-pairs and inserting Jones for Trouba could potentially shift this series.

(Lack of) points AND giving up too many chances are BOTH the problem, IMO.

Jones is an intriguing player that I would like to see get a real look next year.

As it stands, he's a #6 at best who's played 31 NHL games. We don't exactly have Paul Coffey in the press box here.

People just need their mystery box in the playoffs to use as a crutch. "It would all be ok if we did this thing!"

Now that Chytil came back (and really had no impact, spoiler alert on Jones) that mystery box has become Jones.

Did you watch game 1, 2, 3, or 4?

We were literally outplayed grossly almost the entire time. The sky is falling because we have nothing to counter the Panthers. If it wasn't for Igor the series is already over. Not because Mika doesn't know how to dump a puck in.

Truth hurts - nice guy - good nyr - bout it.
He’s hurt the club when they needed him most.
He’s become a detrimental player with his soft prancing bff.
Maybe he’s got a big game left - we’ll see.
