Is it that they really don’t have the PP assets? Is it bad coaching? This has been going on for a while.

I've been saying the same thing for the past 4 years about this PP.
If you don't get a quarterback on the PP to run it, it won't work....

It's not Burrows or Muller or St-Louis.....almost every team has their D to run and control the PP, we don't.
We never had one since Markov left, we had good secondary like Weber/Subban/Petry but if you don't have that top guy running the blue line like Fox, Makar, Reilly or Krug on the PP, it's impossible to have a good powerplay

They do have the assets, it's just that they are not properly used.

They don't have the assets. Caufield and Suzuki sure, but then what? Matheson is injured as is probably more of a 2nd wave guy on the point when healthy. Wideman? Hoffman? Anderson? Dach? Monahan? Are these guys you expect to deliver a successful powerplay relative to other teams?

Dach, absolutely.

He gains the zone and is a really good playmaker.

They can put Dadonov, Gallagher, Monahan or Dvorak in the bumper.

It's the 5th piece they are lacking.

And as such, they don't have the assets, nor any depth on the 2nd wave.

I like the maturity and poise Dach plays with when he has the puck and is able to make crisp and decisive passes on the PP, but ultimately not enough at this point.

They do if they exploit it properly. It's true that we do not have a Markov at the QB, but the assets are there to at least make a decent 1PP unit. The second unit will be another story.

All those years of Markov, we usually had an upper end PP, especially pre chronically injured Markov.

Still miss Marky.

Will organically happen once Armia’s back within the next couple of weeks, patience…
Then play him the minutes he actually deserves. He’s the only forward seemingly capable of completing high risk passes other than Suzuki.

To me, Guhle needs to be where Wideman is on the PP1 and its not even a discussion. His pass are as good but he add speed, puck control and most important ; a shot that needs to be respected down the middle.

You want to open the PK box and create several 2v1? Guhle is that answer.

I begin to detect a theme - seems today like more and more issues come back to coaching. Is the shine coming off?

You want to give the Habs a chance? Play an energy guy on the 4th line and start holding slugs like Hoffman accountable.

MSL constantly praises Dadonov....what does he see that we don't?

Maybe you adjust the 2nd PP unit and give Slaf a shot there?

We are in bad shape when players like Wideman QB the 1st unit
I know it's early, but MSL is starting to look like Ducharme in his decisions.Flame away!
