I would say for it to be the other way around,( Trade Chytil for Center and keep Buch ) but we need 'controlled contracts' like Chytils.
I’m not too worried about the contracts at the moment. At this rate out of all the kids, Fox is going to cost money. By the time everyone else hopefully has it figured out, Panarin and Trouba’s contract will be winded down to a year or 2. Chytil doesn’t deserve good money yet and neither does Igor. Kakko as well.

They dig themselves a deep hole that is hard to climb out of. The slow starts and the bad finishes are very much on DQ. Those are very fair criticisms.

And this is a weird team too. They pushed back against a top team in Washington, and didn’t do enough in their last game against Philly.
I dont remember this last year... maybe I'm crazy.

I felt like we were in every game. Effort was never the issue. We were relentless and aggressive. Our defense was atrocious though... This team is confusing af

My gut tells me they aren’t going to carry Buch’s next deal, on top of what they are paying Panarin and Kreider, and with Lafreniere, Kakko and Kravtsov in the organization, and with the possibility of either having to extend Zibanejad or find his replacement.

Unfortunately , I think Buch becomes that casualty.

Fortunately, his value has never been higher.

quinn needs to go already he is a college coach if that
let the kids play the rest of the season
i hope igor turns out to be great because goal tending on this team this year has been terrible i don't care what anyone says

Think they'll try to cash in on Strome or he may have earned another deal?

I feel like I’ve been at that point for a while with him. Just these lingering doubts he’s quite the player some hope he is. He’ll have those spurts, but I just don’t know if all the pieces are under the hood either.
For me, he's just quite limited.

I see the athletic package but in terms of hockey skill, does he shoot particularly well? Not really. He's a very bad passer. He sort of has good hands in the sense that he can deke but also sort of doesn't in the sense that he doesn't handle passes well.

Kreider was also a guy who came up a great athlete without great skills, but I don't think Chytil has the hockey IQ or the edge Kreider has to play a game that accentuates his strengths.

I know he had an injury and covid, but he's going to be 22 next season. That's going to be his last chance to show us what he really is.

They play like the youngest team, Consistently inconsistent.

I love Buch and he’s turned himself into a hell of a hockey player. Moving him just makes sense, we can’t pay everyone and have the kids develop at the same time.

Buch has become not only a better scorer, but a complete player with a bit of an edge. It sucks to lose that, but as you said, sometimes it's the best time to trade a player right after he makes a jump.

For me, it's not really about Buchnevich. It's more so the fact that if Buchnevich isn't on our third line by 2023, we have larger probems with Lafreniere and Kakko. It just is what it is. He was organizationally the odd man out as soon as the ping pong ball came up.

And unfortunately in a capped world, where we decided (and most fans agreed with) spending money on Panarin, Trouba, and Kreider, that’s the outcome.

Then you factor in Kravtsov, Kakko, and Lafreniere, and concerns about the center position, and you arrived at the painful reality that he might need to maximize Buch’s value to fill another hole.

The reality is he might just be a third line player who is capable of jumping up in the lineup. And there’s nothing wrong with that, so long as we have the other bases covered and aren’t relying on him to be more than that.

ehhh I see inconsistencies from the Vet players. Kids have limited minutes, I don't see them as the problem

The top6 had over 20 minutes. The 4th line got half of what was left. How is that illustrating inconsistencies with the kids?

Sell high on Strome and Buch. Not because I don't like them but we have too many similar skillsets and styles on the team IMO.

Plus we can get a lot in return.

Would Minnesota trade Rossi for Strome?
Buch for Newhook or Lundell?

So, look at what happened with the Canes and forward prospects when they got competent coaching. Everything they touch turns to gold. Quinn is dragging this organization into the depths of hell. We need a competent coach and I'm terrified Gorton won't let him go purely out of ego.
It also bears pointing out that a guy like Necas played 8 NHL games prior to his D+3. That's Kakko next year.

I dislike Quinn as much as anyone but we have to remember that most guys aren't even sniffing the NHL at the age Laf and Kakko are.

This team needs a Center in the worst way
Gotta give up something to get something. Might be the time to sell high but then again how excited would one be bringing another young prospect like newhook or krebs here ?

Buch is one probably the only young forward that Quinn didn't poison but sure let's get rid of him. Quinn is the anti-Midas everything he touches turns to shit and yet Buch survived that.
