I actually thought Kakko had a better game than his metrics looked. He looked legit dangerous a few times, on the precipice of a multi-point game if execution goes differently. Panarin low key had a pretty big stinker.

And there was also a pkay with Chytil that could’ve netted both of them a point. Instead? Nada.

Look I don't want to pile on Quinn unnecessarily. Realistically I understand that he was still involved under Knoblauch, and that this is just a young, inconsistent team. And that the Caps came to play today.

But it's really hard to watch this one, especially the first two periods, in contrast with the last 6, and not wonder if he is helping or hurting the situation at this point.

I agree completely here. I'm gonna give it a couple more games, but at some point it's no longer a coincidence. It's hard to argue that they don't look looser under Knoblauch than Quinn.

I’m not upset at all. Past Ranger teams would fold over when a team scored a bunch in a short amount of time. This team at least gave it a shot. Don’t quite understand some of the Blackwell hate. He certainly has invisible games but he’s also a a contributor as well.

These one goal losses suck more than blowouts. Especially knowing if we didn't give up "that last one", we would've tied it up.

At the end of the day, we're not here to develop Quinn. We're here to develop the kids. If we don't have good results in the next 20 games, we're not obligated to stick with Quinn to see his concepts and approach through to success or more likely, a flop.

Not every player develops the same way and a part of that is a different approach from a different staff. Chytil is frustrated, Kakko is frustrated, Laf is frustrated. Can't continue this way.

Edmonton deluded themselves into thinking the coaches and culture aren't the problems for the longest time until it consumed them.

We owe Quinn nothing. He was brought from college ranks to develop young prospects. He has been a failure IMO. Did he do anything in college either? We have a bottom of the barrel coach when we look at the other coaches in the division. Trotz, Sullivan, Laviolette, Cassidy are all better. So are Torts and Brind'Amour for that matter assuming divisions go back to what they were. Im sick of this guy and his player management, time management, line juggling, lousy PP, and his team being unprepared to play early in games. We can do better.

Got my large cold brew and Henrik Lundqvist socks on.

I'm thinking either 1-0 either team or 6-4 Caps. No in-betweens.
Nice job. My body felt 4 but my brain was typing 3. So I just went with 4 when I posted but that was late into the game when they were at 3. So good job on early predicting.

This is an infuriating team. We're just a average-below average team. We have a lot of individual talent but it does not come together well... consistently.

We live and die by our counter attack/odd man rushes. Everything else is average to dogshit

Its almost like we are in the middle of a rebuild and have the youngest team in the league.

I like Kaapo a lot as a player and person but this "he's on the precipice of being dominant" talk this entire season is starting to wear.
Lol, he’s played so much better than Laf but Laf has shown so much more finish ability. Kakko’s inability to finish is both down to luck and his complete lack of scoring touch

Because he supposedly takes valuable minutes away from the kids

I think that’s a fair assessment.

It’s not just all one thing or another, it’s usually a mixed bag - and that’s reflected in our record.
It seems that we rarely have the entire team rolling in a given game. Sure it's fun when Zibanejad hangs a 6-pointer. When the going is good, we overlook how top heavy those performances actually were. Panarin had 1 point in that game. The bottom 6 stargazed. Most of the first two months, the top 6 were ass and it was the foot soldiers that carried them. Today was a repeat of that. Then there were games where nearly all four lines were good only to be sabotaged by a sieve in nets

I am beginning to think that there is real merit to the approach or perhaps personality theory that's been brought up. If the systems and player management didn't change under Knoblauch, then maybe it truly is Quinn's energy and the way he comes off to the team. But not dismissing that there were still real issues that were beneath some of Knoblauch's wins. It's like the substitute teacher effect. Maybe they really are less tense when Quinn is out sick.
