Nobody wanted to pay a late first round pick to get Bertuzzi… 4 points 3 games so far and has been effective. Sure would of looked good playing first line instead of drury

Aho staal fast is almost less skilled then aho Jarvis drury don’t see the point
Bertuzzi or any forward f***ing not named Puljujarvi would have been nice but remember when criticizing our dollar store deadline pickups was met with but Patches, but Svech (even though he was injured after the deadline). Always some sort of excuse for our front office.

The answer is the front office actually needs to get serious and put their money where there mouth is, injuries or not.

If our powerplay could score a f***ing goal on the road, we'd be 1 win away from sweeping them most likely. But our powerplay is brutal, our play on the road is brutal.

The PP is now sub 9% on the road since the start of this run. Frightening.

Rod and co. get the blame, but I don’t know what else he can try. It’s just not working with this personnel. The team needs a great PP forward. They don’t have one. That’s management’s problem to address.

Would it make sense to put Necas and Aho together? At least they are both skilled. I wonder if Necas has something going on with him. He just doesn’t look balanced on his skates and has lost a step-just not skating like he was earlier in the season.

Maybe he's totally demoralized. Like us.

Why behind the bench? Give him some quality players to play with not ahl guys
He has only been playing with AHL guys since Patches and Svech went down. I agree we need to add better wingers, even if for depth. But behind the bench I was speaking more to our pathetic powerplay. Aho could be a 90-100ish point player if we regularly had a good powerplay and weren't so defensively oriented.

The Canes in February were probably the 2nd best team in the league. Since then the Canes have gotten worse with injuries and not much at the trade deal.. other teams have gotten better with trades.. not a good combination if you root for the Canes.

I sort of agree with you, but he seems to content with trying to ram a square peg into a round hole for way too long before trying something different. That's a big problem especially in the playoffs when you don't have time to let things work themselves out naturally.

Yea I get it. Just can’t expect him to carry 2 guys who are playing above where they should be. Maybe the front office thought Jarvis would have a better year but he’s in a sophomore slump. Pretty foolish of them to expect a ton from him tho given it’s only his second season so that’s on them

I think it's a mixed bag at this point. While ideally them together lets them work some amount of magic and they start to contribute but if the Isles are able to shut them down then our offense is even more screwed. If such a level of screwed exists at this point.

I'd be all for it Sunday because worst case scenario is where we were all of last year. Best of 3 with two games at home.

Earlier in the year I suggested some healing crystals to fix the power play woes.

Pastrnak/Marchand
Stamkos/Kucherov
Zibanejad/Panarin

Whatever combination of Aho/Necas/Svechnikov/Teravainen on the walls is not close. No PP coach is cooking a Michelin star meal with Hamburger Helper.
Personally I’d go back to burns and ghost on the same unit 2 guys who can shoot it

Don’t forget:

Matthews/Marner
McDavid/Draisaitl
Mackinnon/Raantanen

This is where a lack of superstar scorer hurts the most.

Given the difficulty in acquiring that type of player, I’m not sure what the solution is. Perhaps they’ll have to try the flawed 5v5 PP specialist (i.e. Hoffman, Olofsson) at some point.

he's not wrong, all of our shots on the PP were going right into our own guys. If we go into the 3rd up 3-1 it's a completely different game.
