Something else that should be enjoyed while it lasts, and that I haven't seen mentioned yet: for a team that everyone (including its fans) said had no offense outside of its first line, the Canucks have 11 goals in their last 2 games. When was the last time that happened? Not very often in the last year or so.

Echoing the sentiments on Stanton. Very early, but looks like we picked up a legitimate player. Nice to add depth for absolutely nothing.

- Higgins is snakebit right now. Must have had 6-8 quality chances through the first 3 games and nothing to show for it. Needs to keep bearing down.

I remember Torts talking about Higgins and how he did everything in New York but score. Higgins just seems to have horrible luck under Torts.

Couple of thoughts:

Torts - In game adjustments, very well done.

Santorelli - Edit: Best is hyperbole, I think he did well overall. Best was Lack. Hustle and trying to make plays.

Richardson - Looked almost as good as Santorelli. This tandem should stick together.

Hamhuis - Injured/Rusty. Not worried.

Booth - Welcome back. Passing was off, unlike yesterday. Wide turns. Suspect board work. He needs time, but glad he got on the board.

Stanton - Very good pick up. Alberts is done here.

Edit: Oh, and Lack was very good overall. Nice debut.

Happy that we won, but not liking the fact that the only thing holding us back from being a current laughing stock like Calgary, are the Sedin's.

Really hard to see what the team is capable of until Kassian, Burrows, and Schroeder come back. If Santorelli/Richardson/Weise is our fourth line come April, we should be good.

wasn't stanton like 8th on chicago's depth chart, makes you wonder just how "deep" our defence really was the past couple years when we were forced to play crap like alberts and barker on a somewhat consistent basis

Torts actually coached us to a win.

Feels good.

Goals 2 and 3 were gifts by the Flames, they weren't really forced cuz of our line changes as everyone thinks. But he did do a good job of motivating the team as AV would never have.

Injuries are going to happen, we need one more legit star winger.

Who cares if they were gifted or not, Torts sparked the team, and they came back and won.

That was a pretty wild game tonight. Good game Canucks fans.

Until the next meeting (which is all the way into December! That's too long! bleagh)

Also, pease beat the Oilers badly all the time.

I wouldn't read too much into that, actually. Some players just need a change of scenery, and ALL players play better (or worse) in different systems. Look at Raymond in Toronto. They think we were idiots for giving him up. Were we? He had ample opportunity to show what he could do here since coming back from his back injury. We won't know if he would have been better under Torts system, unfortunately.

Not really. If you count Corrado, he would most likely be 7th on ours. The reason he couldn't crack Chicago's defence is they chose a right hander for their last spot over him.

Higgins absolutely has to bear down on his chances. He could have 3 or 4 already with some poise on front of goal.

My understanding was that Stanton wasn't so much not good enough to make it as it was that his skillset was more redundant.

We had insane depth in 2011. Just too bad that Hamhuis got injured.

Doesn't necessarily have to be a RW, im actually content with Burrows and Hansen being the top 2 RW's. Daniel is money obviously, but Higgins or Booth as #2 LW would be my main area of concern with the roster really. If MG wants to try and go 'all in' at the deadline again I hope we're going after a star playmaking LW.

Yeah that's actually a good point, pretty much anyone who can find some chemistry with Kesler. 2nd line was brutal, just hacking away and making pretty terrible passes all night. Feel like a Loui Erikson type would be just perfect, but there wasn't any chance of us getting him with Seguin being offered up.

I read a Hawks fan mention that Stanton was their 7th defenseman during the playoffs, which is actually saying something, since their blueline is deep and they had several players that could have have been the go-to extra guy. Hawks fans seemed pretty high on him.
