Kakko being benched and replaced with Hunt (I think?) was 100% Gallant thinking a faster forechecker who would hit could spark something and be more effective, but ignores that Kakko's forechecking and stickwork is far more effective than flying in and trying to hit someone rather than gaining the puck

Same as this is probably "want someone who's hard along the boards"
Then have the guts to explain that to the player. I get that you might not have to explain to a guy like Gauthier why he's not in the lineup, but a guy like Kakko should be different. And Kravtsov to an extent too. This franchise needs those players to be good. Guys like Gauthier you can replace easily.

This coach when it comes to the kids:

Speak softly and carry A BIG STICK.

I definitely think that was it. Maybe he talked to Kakko about finishing players with the body and he just wasn't doing it.

However, whatever it was that particular game, it wasn't conveyed to Kakko, he wasn't even approached. Thats where I took issue.

I also think Gallant thought the Rangers would win that game and he would put Kakko right back in. Who knows. Tough to speculate on it.

This is why we struggle developing young forwards so much. There's constantly the lingering threat that some Goodrow is going to take your spot because he does Goodrow stuff.

We just let Miller go out there and suck until he didn't and Schneider is just out there sucking (offensive improvement noted) until he hopefully doesn't.

I think people were more miffed at moving Kakko and Laf out of the top six positions they were playing earlier in the year (Kakko with Kreider and Zibanejad, Laf with Panarin and Trochek)

I hear you but then it left the team with 2 fourth lines pretty much. Posters here are saying that GG finds something that works and then changes it.........but really they are focused on the young guys and not on the whole team. The entire team has not found it's groove this year , at lest not consistently.

And it has continued this season with Kravtsov. That's just not the way you treat these young players, who are expected to play a big role for years with this franchise. It's not about entitlement, it's about coaching and developing these kids. They need to know what's going on, and what they need to do.

The young D certainly got a much longer leash than the forwards.

Goodrow isn't the best guy to use as an example since he can play literally anywhere. Vesey on the top line. Blais on the top line (albeit short). Kid line as 3rd line.

Personally:

Kreider / Zib / Kakko
LaF / Trocheck / Panarin
Krav / Chytil / Vesey
Gauthier / Goodrow / Blais

Carpenter scratch.

Is this confirmed? I thought Kravtsov and Carpenter were doing the bag skate and one was being scratched.

I got a text from Mollie Walker saying she asked Gallant why and he said it was a "coaches decision" She said Chytil is ready to go also. Some good news.

That's the insane part. Young Dmen are given infinite leash and shockingly...the Rangers have developed good dmen.

Its like theres a golden rule this franchise follows that there can only be a certain percentage of youth under 23 in the top 6.

You cant go past 50%. God forbid

And at 50% its already too much so keep a close eye during the game to get it lower

Come on...is Kravtsov really gonna be scratched? Like you finally got the lines right and now you're trying to big brain this thing into last place.

**Lines updated**

No Eichel, No Howden (Don’t have to worry about a Howden goal, lol)Chytil back in the line up, Kravtsov scratched, sorry Ed. **

we're going to get smoked tonight. they might have to kick us out of the league after.
No we won't......Turk likely will lay out a few thousand dollar bills in the room for the winning goal......he hates Vegas so bad it is not funny . When they fired him he told his friends he would draw out every last nickle of his contract....and he did before the Rangers signed him .

I had heard.....maybe just a story who knows....that deal for Kravs is done but they did not want him to fly back by himself as they figure he might be kidnapped since there was a story of a Cdn stalker from BC recently stopped at the border with a lot of Kravs personal items on him ....one never knows....

Drury hate Kravtsov. Gallant is just trying to buy himself more time by getting on Drury's good side.
