There isn’t quite 100+ years of competition yet. Plus a lot of the fan bases in Europe have different make ups.

Like Man U vs city.

Not a lot of cross over possibility there.
I understand there isnt the same long history. You're quite right about that.
I was thinking more in terms of passion and dedication to the team.

Lol way too early in season to say this is an enormous game if we want any chance of catching them. There is 57 games left after tonight lol. Let's just say this is a big game for an early season matchup. But not even close to being critical for us to even catch them. Be nice though if they come up with a big win
People love to use crazy hyperbole. Round these parts

I like How Kane is being the reasonable one. Put plexiglass between some dorks and they figure they're worthy of the octagon. I know this is a female( I think) but guys do it too, that wouldn't do it anywhere else.

EK65 or Bust. A career like his deserves a Cup. He will bring it and it will be glorious.
You can't be serious. This clown busts every org he's been on. He leaves a trail of destruction every single team he's played on. The most carcinogenic player in the league.

I would throw up if EK65 ever became an Oiler.

He doesn’t bust organizations. The organizations suck. In Ottawa he was the Cale Makar of the League. In San Jose he won a Norris with an AHL roster. He’s currently the 2nd best player on the Pens outside Sid. Skates like the wind, elite playmaking in the o zone, elite outlets. People are sleeping on this guy.

Edit: Woops wrong thread, thought i was in the trade thread when I brought up ek65

Every dressingroom he's in he eventually destroys. Sens were deepsixed after the Karlson/Hoffman controversy and the room in tatters. They had to get rid of both. He then takes his figure skating game to SJ and destroys what was actually a team there. Has done the same in Pittsburgh. The before and after disparity, it isn't pretty. Karlson attitude makes every team worse. Invariably the teams he's on just stop competing and start looking for cherry contract pts. All he cares about is the Benjamins.

On the right team he is an obvious difference maker. The Pens are not the right fit for him at all.
Could this team be a fit? Thats an interesting question.

I don’t know the exact details. But if I remember correctly that was more of a cat fight between their wives. I’ve heard nothing of his issues in San Jose or Pitts though. Seems like a level headed guy to me. I mean you’d have to have a decent attitude playing for tire fires like those.

Man, Karlsson didn’t destroy San Jose. That team was going downhill the moment we beat them in 2017. I told Sharks fans as much back then lol. That was always going to happen.

Pittsburgh sucked before EK got there too.

When you win Norris trophies I think the expectation to get paid should be expected by him and his agent. Not to mention at one point the whole hockey world was fawning over him like they fawn over Makar now. Can’t blame him for getting paid when he had the reputation to get that pay day.

We need to stop the EK65 train. That would be a horrible add. Locker room poison and mercenary player. Not what the Oilers need.

I see what Ek and Bouch does to drive possession from the 1st pair. I see EK65 doing the same for the 2nd pair.

I see where you're coming from here. It would also require Nurse to simplify his game...much like he has been doing paired with Kulak.
They have been a good 2nd pairing but if you could have a fit with EK65 and Nurse and have Kulak...who IMO is an elite #5 dman...that really really strengthens your D core.
EK65 would also drive the play offensively with his wheels like no other dman on the team right now so it makes the team much harder to defend.
Ekholm and Bouchard with the McDavid line followed by Nurse and EK65 with the Draisaitl line.
Good luck defending that.
I mean there is an element of risk with this as well and they need to get a major reduction in EK65's cap hit.
All that being said I am intrigued by this potential possibility.
The team would be getting a very motivated EK65 with a very real opportunity for a rebirth.
