What better way for him to simplify his game, then let EK65 do all the playmaking and thinking for the pair. Let Nurse focus and handle the D-Zone, Ek65 admittedly is soft in his D-zone anyways. I feel like there could be some good synergy there. We all know Nurse's Hockey IQ is a weak point, whereas EK65's is a strong point. It's like they were made for eachother. Covers eachothers weaknesses. Ying and Yang. Batman and Robin.I see where you're coming from here. It would also require Nurse to simplify his game...much like he has been doing paired with Kulak.
They have been a good 2nd pairing but if you could have a fit with EK65 and Nurse and have Kulak...who IMO is an elite #5 dman...that really really strengthens your D core.
EK65 would also drive the play offensively with his wheels like no other dman on the team right now so it makes the team much harder to defend.
Ekholm and Bouchard with the McDavid line followed by Nurse and EK65 with the Draisaitl line.
Good luck defending that.
I mean there is an element of risk with this as well and they need to get a major reduction in EK65's cap hit.
All that being said I am intrigued by this potential possibility.
The team would be getting a very motivated EK65 with a very real opportunity for a rebirth.

Exactly. We'd be a wagon.

I'm saying all this under the slim possibility of EK65 @50%. Probably my pipe dream. But Pens fans are ready to move on, some accepting a 1st and 3rd to move on at 50%.

He'll be hungry. I can guarantee that. He asked out in San Jose for that very reason.
I thought this was the plan till the deadline?
Lol. It is. But we'll need all the Cap accrual we can muster to get that final piece to the puzzle.
