I don’t really care about the knights one way or another. They just exist.
To be fair i also don’t really care about the flames either.

The flames have literally only had 1 year of being good in all the years I’ve been a fan of hockey and I always enjoyed beating Vancouver more. That said it was still fun to beat the flames in the playoffs that year because of the historical rivalry between the two teams. But as an out of town oilers fan and have been my whole life I don’t feel the Calgary hate like you natives do

Lol way too early in season to say this is an enormous game if we want any chance of catching them. There is 57 games left after tonight lol. Let's just say this is a big game for an early season matchup. But not even close to being critical for us to even catch them. Be nice though if they come up with a big win
A regulation win by Vegas puts the Knights back up by 7 points. A regulation win by the Oilers puts them within 3 points with a game in hand. Part of the problem here is that we are way behind them on the first tie breaker. A regulation win would go a long way and a regulation loss makes the mountain even steeper.

Further to this - on December 3rd last year we were 17 points behind Vegas, then finished the season 6 points ahead of them. We're way ahead of where we have been at similar times of the season over the past few years.

They're the bizzaro world Oilers. Light the league up in October, then slowly go backwards the rest of the season. This will start when the inevitable Stone/Eichel injury occurs at some point in the near future.

From the start of December last year the Oilers played at about .700 hockey. That's a ridiculously good pace that I'm not sure they can replicate this year. I don't know why it's such a hot take to view this as a critical game. Keep in mind that the Oilers have yet to do their usual death march through the likes of the Florida teams, Carolina, Philadelphia, et al. Oh and those auto-loss games in Minnesota.

Looked at VGK lineup, Mr LTIR's injured again? What a f***ing clown. Already getting his body ready to go back to LTIR from a mere boo boo.

Might as well get a life alert bracelet at this point for the LTIR golden chump.

I never said it isn't a big game, it just isn't curtains if we lose.

We won't need to play .700 hockey again with how much closer we are to first than we were at the same point last year.

Looks like the slide starts now, I didn't even know that his inevitable injury had already taken place.

Vegas Knights and Calgary Flames need to be regarded in the same way as the twin girls in “The Shining”…….repulsed and avoided.
This has been a public service announcement.

Always something happening for him to be injured. Such a f***ing fraud.
Breaking news:
Mark Stone got out of bed, stretched, slipped from his slippers, and injured himself.

Anybody else hate the "Golden" Knights more than the Flames at this point?

Also their PK is only 21st in the league. If we get a PP good chance we can build some momentum.

It's not even close. I honestly would cheer for the flames if they were going for the cup and we were out. I partied my face off in 2004 with all my buddies when I lived in Calgary at the time.

Definitely one of my most hated teams. I think I hate the Knights and Canucks more than the Flames personally. With the Canucks its more of their fan base though. I hate everything about the Knights.

Nailed it!!

Na. I liked Iginla and knew a few flames personally at the time. Wasn't a huge stretch.
Its fine to respect Iginla (he was a fine player) but a true Oilers fan isnt confused about his allegiance.
Im old school in that regard.
Allegiance just isnt transferable to the Oilers longest running rival.

Its a little like a Liverpool supporter cheering for Man U.

Lol like I said 57 games left and lots and lots of time to make up 7 points if we lose lol. Why not read what I say before responding. I said a loss here is not critical to us catching them by end of season. Of course any win is better but far from crucial at the 25 game mark . Don't you think you quite comprehend the point. Yea a win is good and would be big. But it's far far far from critical to catching then if we lose at the 25 game mark. Like are you all new to hockey?? It's an 82 game season with ups and downs.

My older brother took me to the red mile on their cup run and I saw my first pair of knockers.

Shirts off for Kipprusoff. It was wild how it all unfolded after they beat Detroit. Everything just funneled down to 17th. There was a limo that drove by and two girls were topless out the sunroof. We were like wholly shit...better go down there.

I was one of those too, except when it was our turn in 2006 and seeing all their hate, I've hoped since then that their sht hole team relocates.
Ya their fanbase is trash for the most part and extremely obnoxious. I saw the same.

Right, like I said there's a lot of very difficult games ahead for the Oilers that will hamper our efforts to catch up. Is it impossible to pass them if we lose this game? No but it makes it harder as we lack tie breakers and thus will have to ensure we have more points than them.

I don't like this "lots of time left" mentality. When you fall behind in points it takes a lot to catch up. Vegas is a very good team and nobody knows that better than we do.

Yep. Respected players like Iggy or Kipper, but would I cheer for the flames in the playoffs? Never. f*** them for life. Same thing applies to other Canadian teams especially the leafs and canucks.
