Trotz is a damn good coach and has had success everywhere he has been. He generally gets the most out of what he has to work with. He was good in Nashville, Washington, and with the Piles. This team needs structure more than anything else. Their Dzone has an enter sign at the blue line. They are lost and fragile. They consistently blow multiple goal leads and they can't come back once they are down. They need a change now if they want to salvage this season.

I stand by my point that hiring Trotz would be a collassal overcorrection and overreaction.

"If success everywhere he goes" looks like this :
23 seasons.
1 Stanley Cup
9 missed playoffs
Only made ECF 2 other times, rest was 1st or 2nd round losses

Then success has a pretty low standard. To highlight, it took Ovechkin, Backstrom, Kusnetsov, Oshie and Carlson to win him a Stanley Cup in Washington. Hes either lost in the first 2 rounds or missed the playoffs in 20/23 seasons.

Thats a pretty low bar for success. Offense routinely suffers at the expense of defense under his system which bodes well for making playoffs but eventually runs thin when other teams start playing similar defense but find ways to score.

Our defense has now been atrocious under Quinn and Gallant and multiple different defensive assistant coaches. It may be a paying Trouba 8 million and using Hajek through multiple coaching regimes issue.

I for one and not on the Trotz train.

Jack Hughes vs. Kakko and Lafreniere is example A of why "YOU GOTTA EARN IT KID" is a dumb approach. We made Kakko and Lafreniere "earn it" and in the process they became Marcel Hossa and PA Parenteau. The Devils drafted Hughes and put him on PP1 and let him be an offensive dynamo and now he's going to be an actual star player.

I don't know - I watch most of the games, I try to watch the preseason games, I follow the team media chatter around things like training camp. I'm not too happy with the goofs that we've had running things but if those two guys looked like brilliant players behind the scenes this thing would have played out differently.
