This team needs a Tortorella type coach.

Yeah. Yell at them. Make them cry. Embarrass them in front of the media.

That's the ticket.

Rangers Torts and now Torts are very different. Hes not that same coach anymore that would call Hagelin a jitterbug and say he sucks in a presser.

He will call people
out and say the team needs better, yes. But he also will go to ends of the earth to defend his players when they commit to playing the right way and doing the right things and if the effort is there.

Tortorella is also masterclass at using pressers to deflect from blame being put on his players and deteriorating their mindset. He'll say something outrageous or blow up in a press conference to divert attention to himself, so he can handle the issues internal to team and not get questions on it through media.

Hes a motivator. This group has had a micromanager in Quinn and a hands off in Gallant. I'm not ready to blame Gallant for the whole of this yet, or go to MSG with pitchforks for him yet, but if the team does decide to move on from him, I hope its for a middle ground coach who knows boundaries but is also a coach who isn't afraid to call out some guys, shuffle rhe full 12 forwards and not just the same 6 and make some waves to light a fire under this group.

Alot of top guys look way too comfortable just cashing their cheques

Nah, if Nils Lundkvist netted a 1st, the Rangers can get at least that and then some for a 1st overall from two years ago. Say...Montreal's unprotected 2023 1st and Josh Anderson with some retention.

That is another thing that makes the Kravtsov thing weird. I think the fourth line is an averagely functioning NHL fourth line, but he gives them 6 minutes a game

True- Gauthier has been ok. But the point still stands.

Laf has about as many penalty minutes as points this season.

We are aware that Trotz torpedoed Barzals offsense in NY so he's not going to do any good for Laf or any of our offensively inclined top guys.

The point of changing a coach is to avoud changing all the players. By getting Trotz you'll need to end up changing all our players because Zibanejad/Kreider/Panarin/Laf will all struggle under his system.

Trocheck/Chytil/Kakko/Goodrow would be our top guys under Trotz which leaves us no better off.

Trotz won 1 cup in WSH. other than that he's coach mediocre make playoffs easy out teams in NSH and gotten great goaltending from Sorokin/Varlamov in NY to make 3 conference finals and lose in all 3 cause his system doesn't promote offense, which you eventually need to outscore opponents 3-2 when games get tight.

I'll never understand the obsession with Trotz

Trotz is a damn good coach and has had success everywhere he has been. He generally gets the most out of what he has to work with. He was good in Nashville, Washington, and with the Piles. This team needs structure more than anything else. Their Dzone has an enter sign at the blue line. They are lost and fragile. They consistently blow multiple goal leads and they can't come back once they are down. They need a change now if they want to salvage this season.
