Yeah, I got totally reamed just 48 hours ago by pointing out that this wasn't a playoff team.

Well me and you then cuz I'm right there with you. It's a long season yeah anything can happen but just look at this team. Reality sucks but it is what it is.

Well, it's a process, and Pearson will be back soon, and after that Gaborik, and after that Quick, and hey I live in Berkeley now, so WTF.

Well then. It's even less likely that the Kings get back to cup contention.

Thanks!

It's true. It's how the cap works. Had to give Kopitar and extra $3m of cap space. Brown, there's no good answer. Toffoli needs another contract. Gaborik, who knows with him anymore. Quick is getting another year older.

It's far more likely the Kings don't get back into contention with this basic core group. Just too many big contracts for too many guys. That, and it's not easy building a roster that can win the Cup twice in three years. That doesn't happen to the same franchise all that often.

Their dogs?

Hopefully, Dowd gets some ice time now.

Turn the Kings Center depth into a strength.

Kopitar
Carter
Dowd
Shore

Pearson is back next game.

Blues fan, cupless, says not so fast, mister. In contention throughout the Hawks and Kings runs, and still there as the Cap caps the other two. The cap can be managed with youth and smart trades. Lombardi said so. He did so during the run. He hasn't since.

Sutter should be fired if Greene dresses for the next game.

Easier to manage the cap when the team doesn't win the Cup. Win the Cup, and guys have to start getting paid. We won, give me money. Don't win the Cup, you can let guys go. Want a better chance at the Cup, how about you take a little less?

The Hawks are in the same situation as the Kings now. The only difference is the success they had very early in their rebuilding process.

Seems like it's been a while since the Kings played a complete 60-minutes with no let down.

Off the top of my head, it may have been the game against the Stars in Dallas last season.

A model of consistency this team is not.

I lost interest after 2-0, Greene with the -3, was he that bad?

Well, one of the Goals was Forbort's fault(turn-over), the other two goals, forwards lost their men.

I mean Greene didn't cause those goals, but he also didn't help prevent them.

Ready for Gilbert, not that its going to do much good 'cept help with mobility. I still think they should be playing some younger players...

Cup or no cup the Kings butchered the roster in regards to cap.

Got off the hook with the worst of it all, bringing MR back.

Greene at $2.5m, could be replaced by LaDue at 900k.

Clifford and King at a combined $3.6m, at the very least one could be replaced by a rookie making 900k.

No one put a gun to Dean's head and told him to re-sign Greene (who was done in 2014) or give Clifford $1.6m for whatever it is Kyle Clifford provides.

Getting Pearson back will help transition, and Fore-Checking a lot.

I think at this point Purcell/Seto are no longer NHL players. They just don't do anything well at all.

Seto has speed, but he is just so weak on the puck.

Purcell reminds me of Trent Hunter(when the Kings got him), a former productive player, past his prime.

Muzzin/Doughty need to be broken up, A-Mart can't anchor his own line, he just can't do it.

Absolutely. Lombardi has had some poor choices along the way. It's added to the complexity of the situation. For every Greene and Richards, there's Voynov and Brown.

Greene could be replaced by LaDue, but there was no LaDue in the summer of 2014.

If the Kings go out quietly to the Sharks in 2014 the way they did in 2016, we might all be talking about a completely different situation today. Gaborik, Richards, Greene, they might all be gone off the cap. The 1st round picks in 2015 and 2016, maybe never traded because a defending champ still had a pulse.
