Remember seeing a lot of talk here from people wanting JVR to figure it out after an unimpressive game 1... looks like him going to the net worked pretty well tonight. I feel like we haven't had a true net front presence like him a long time. May be underwhelming in a lot of 5 on 5 situations but definitely a powerful weapon on the PP.

Or they load up and do Pasta, Poitras Marchand. At present we aren't even a one line team.

Hell baby
Just in...

I never thought that I would be cheering for JVR but I am happy he is on the team.

We were hoping Poitras would get his first goal tonight.

The fans were NOT happy with the guys in stripes tonight. Did you hear them chanting "Refs you suck and BULLSHIT"? It was pretty loud, and I wasn't sure if they would let that be heard on TV.
We definitely heard em, I was chanting with them lol

He has been fine out there. The fans love him.
It is kind of interesting on several occasions his complete lack of speed has made him get there late but Lauko or Beecher crash the D and send the puck out towards the front and there's Looch finally arriving. It kind of works almost as if it was designed.
He's also a great follow up on a board battle where he again arrives late but just at the right moment to help his linemate with his physicality. It's a great line in terms of chemistry.

I was listening on the radio, you could hear what the crowd was chanting. Lol
Sirott commented that the crowd was expressing their displeasure with the refs.
He of course couldn't repeat it. Lol
But is was funny none the less.
Kudos to the crowd!

It's still early in the season, but there does seem to be some game management by the officials. They were reluctant to blow the whistles late in the game, which was also the case last night in New Jersey.

I've always liked JVR and think he will be a more durable net-front guy than Bertuzzi, and at a fraction of the cost.

Great start to the season; just two frustrations. First, the inability to control face-offs and make simple clears during the final minute brought back memories of Florida Game Seven.

Secondly, the goaltending was otherworldly, as it was all last season. So why did it falter that fateful week and a half last April?
