I knew Englund was a goon, but not to this extent. he literally hits everything that moves, even his own goalie! lol should play Zhura instead of this dude. or even play with 5 Ds.

It may be that Jared knows England will be on the ice in DC and wants him to keep his head in the game.
Englund owes Newhook a nice dinner for taking away his GWG. Frankie was in the Canes collective head, that game was over.

This game was never in doubt. And what I liked most about it was the Avs knew that, so they conserved energy by not bothering to take unnecessary shots. Perfect game and the players were mindful of the long season and playoffs ahead to not exert themselves too much.

It was a completely unacceptable performance, no matter who is in the lineup.
I agree with this. Everyone knows 88 was at fault in his collision with Frank that led to a goal.
Why make a career minor leaguer feel worse about it, especially if he's got to play again against Washington.
Englund yelled at Frankie to leave the puck, Frankie heard him but decided to play the puck anyway. I wouldn't crucify Englund for this.

At his age and experience level, no other teams will be clamouring for him as their starter, so there’s appeal to the security in Colorado. And with the amount of games we expect him to usually play, he can stay at a high level - his play would likely level off if he was asked to shoulder a starting role. And he’s proven that in short durations, he can absolutely dominate
Truly the ideal backup goaltender for a competitive roster

Even if that's the case, 88 still needs to be able to control himself a little better and not just plow the goalie.
That being said we're talking a middle to bottom pairing AHL guy, I fully expect dumbass stuff like this to happen. There is a reason he won't play in the NHL much.

Yeah it was to diffuse the situation. Jared could have left it has miscommunication w/o blaming Frankie for "handling the puck too long" which isn't true.
That's one situation where I wish we had more than the bare minimum available players for a 3-game road trip.
I don't know. A lot of starters are struggling. I think Francouz could have quite many teams after him. Not sure if he should be the starter though. Might be too much pressure for him. I think this situation seems ideal for him. Just my view of him. Not that he doesn't deserve bigger contract. He definitely does.

Still don't understand why Brad Hunt hasn't been called-up. He's not the greatest but with 241 games of NHL experience, he at least stands a chance to be better than some of these shitters. Are they afraid to put him back through waivers ?
Oh yeah, there were those and then also the 'secret shots' that apparently don't count as shots on net. That was a pretty pathetic job by whoever is doing that at PNC Arena.
Don't believe me? When the shot count was at 12 for the Avs - MacKinnon very clearly took the puck on the left side of the offensive zone, cycled the puck along the boards to then only shoot a 'softie' trying to fool Raanta. Apparently, this wasn't good enough to register as a shot even though the goalie had to make a save.
I suspected as much because the shot count didn't add up and I took a particular attention to this. Sure enough, even 3 full minutes later, they STILL didn't count it and it only went up to 13 - very reluctantly - a minute after Makar had a shot on net. Whoever is in charge of doing this should be fired and the Canes should get a fine. It's a f***ing joke... but I guess whatever is going to make Canes fans feel good about their team whether realistic or not.
I’d rather go 1-5 but win in St Louis. **** those guys.

I’m convinced the moment the Avs won game six against the Bolts and secured the Stanley Cup you still found something to bitch about.
When’s the last time the Avs really “goalie’d” a team? I’m not even sure I’d count that late-season victory against the Oilers last year as that (to be fair, that was probably Darcy’s last great game as an Av). That game was not fun to watch but it was great to see Frankie step up big and reward his coach’s confidence.
The Avs are so goddamned banged up they’re missing an entire second pairing, an entire scoring line, and yet they’re still winning. If you have an ounce of sense, you take this victory with a coke and a smile and shut the f*** up.

To me he always looks like he needs a wash. Maybe a decent haircut would sort him out. Nobody can pull off the weird helmet look like Nichushkin, but at least he's large enough to make it work.
