I have been calling this team soft since Cassidy took over, this current team is anything but soft. Greer responds for Frederic who steps in against a better fighter in Goodrow and does very well. Foligno, Lauko, Marchand, Pastrnak and Clifton are not soft.
Yep. Quite a few on here were annoyed with the softness under Cassidy. Some would counter that by showing hit counts after games in which the Bs outhit the opposition. That's many times a misleading stat of course. Bs got outhit tonight 39-21, but they were anything but soft.
Post-game interview Monty made sure to point out that the fights tonight are what turned the momentum back to the Bs favor. That was music to my ears. He gets it. Go out and battle hard and don't take any crap from anyone. Even the Bs main goal scorer took out a physical d-man. Additionally, I can't recall Carlo ever laying so much lumber on players near the crease.
Bottom line is these guys are no longer afraid to go with natural instincts and get nasty if need be. This season so far I think it is being revealed that some of the Bs were indeed holding back some of the aggression in the past due to who was behind the bench. There is more to being hard than hit and fight counts. It's more nuanced than that. The Bs are getting back to the identity fans have been wanting to get back to. Still a work in progress, but going in the right direction.
