I'm really surprised by his comments, actually. The organization has never been anything but wonderful to him, and given him every chance in the world to improve his horrid play.

Yeah, I never really doubted the whole "great teammate" thing surrounding him, and im sure he was at one point but... this comes off as someone who wants to turn the locker room against the coach.

Seabrook is an emotional guy, always has been. It's tough that this is what has become of him, but the guy needs to understand that while he may think his body feels okay, the guy has lost at least a step (more likely two) since the last cup run and the league has continued to get faster. Nobody wants to see him sit out of spite. He just can't keep up anymore and if he thinks waiving his NMC will potentially get another team to bite on him, he has another thing coming.
You honestly hope that he can be this team's 7th for the rest of the season and that instead of trying on a different jersey, he and the Hawks will amicably split and void his contract (AKA pulling the same thing Buff will likely end up doing), and then gift him a cushy job in management so he can stick, but not cost us games. Of course he'd be saying goodbye to a shit ton of money, but is that money worth all the shit he's gonna have to deal with for the next 5 years, no matter where he goes?!? Answer: probably, it's a lot of money.

It's one comment saying he thinks he can still play. I really don't think it's a big deal. I generally downplay anything athletes say in general, for what it's worth and I think fans look into it way too much.
Seems like I'm alone in this viewpoint though.

If he had said "It's disappointing, and I feel like I have a lot of good hockey left in me, and I look forward to working hard and getting back in the lineup", it would have been fine. His quote had a very different tone.

I will also say this - the quote is in words - we know how different tone is when someone is speaking..if he is saying this with an attitude/pitch in his voice then yeah he comes off as a dick, but if he is saying this more somber and soft then you know he is hurt and upset and likely is just reacting like any other spoiled millionaire athlete would when their pride takes a hit - not defending it at all, but I always just hate quotes..need to hear the audio as well before the pitchforks come out..

It's the "for someone" part. Hockey players don't accidentally say that stuff, especially veterans who have done thousands of interviews and know how to handle the media.

I think thats pretty surface level. Maybe just because we've been waiting for this for a while and now that its here he's being a bitch about it we're all unnecessarily angry. But to me right now it seems like a veteran respected guy who cant play anymore trying to use his pull in the lockerroom to alienate the coach.
