Tough one obviously. Sometimes you have to lose one you deserved to win to get things turned around.

Other than the score I am not disappointed at all in the team today.

Clifford had one of his best games as a King. If this kid continues to gain confidence and gets a little scoring touch, we'll have another Dustin Brown type player of our hands.

This. We need to cut the dead weight off this team and bring toffoli and vey up. I think they will make a big difference. Today showed no matter how much you grind out a game, if you dont have great shooters, you can lose no matter how much you outplay.

Pure ****ing nonsense. I'm not sure how much hockey you know, but the Kings played the type of game today that will win 9 times out of 10.

Please...check yourself.

This game is 100 percent on Quick and he's off to a really rough start this season. Unfortunate that the whole team showed up but Quick.

We need to trade Stoll, we are paying him way to much to be our 4th line center, then we need to trade or waive(someone will take him for nothing) Penner we are paying him far to much to sit in the press box this year.

Do you completely forget 3 rookies saving us last year ? (king, Nolan. Voynov)

They did not save the season.

Who was responsible for the Kings most production ? Quick, Brown,Kopitar, Doughty.

Did they help ? Yes. Were they the sole reason the season turned around .? Not even close.

I'm thinking:

Brown-Kopitar-Carter
Gagner-Richards-Williams

Either that or:

Brown-Kopitar-Toffoli
Gagner-Carter-Williams

I agree with these. If Carter plays center, Toffoli's shot is NHL quality and needs to be given an opportunity because our wings would be extremely weak with scoring

I'm all for playing the same lines next game. The Kings didn't look bad, Howard was excellent and Quick was not, that was the bottom line of this game in my opinion.

But Carter isn't a playmaker, that's not his game, he's a shoot first guy and being at center really doesn't allow that.

Plenty of shoot first centers in the league, problem is the Kings lack a playmaker on the wing.

Carter being able to play either spot is huge. I really like Carter and what he brings to the Kings, he is a true sniper, no matter what position he plays. I think ideally DL and DS want him on the wing, but with Richards season long no-show they had no choice I guess. Now it's up to DL to hopefully pull a deal for someone to play with Carter.

People advocating scratching Richards are clueless. He did a solid job matching up against Datsyuk's line and prevented a goal. While they need more production from him, scratching him is pointless. He's the least of LA's problems. Defensive zone breakdowns and failure to convert on grand opportunities cost them this game.

Why would you trade Richards, that makes no sense.

No of course it doesn't make any sense and it won't happen. He is a Richards basher and needs to post anti-Richards comments several times daily. He didn't even see the Kings game today and still made it a point to blame hime for the loss.

Yes you are right, but when your team is 29-30th in scoring it shows how streaky your players can be, we've outplayed most the teams we've played and lost. Sometimes grinding it out isn't the answer. You need finishers for the grinding to be successful. We have the grinding but very few finishers.

Well at least Ziggy hasn't lost his mind.

Btw, what happened to those people who were all for bringing the same exact players as last year... I never understood that. Why re-sign Penner when we were deep enough at the position? Thank God it's a 1 year deal

What don't you understand?

A successful off-season would be re-signing Penner and/or Stoll and re-signing Jonathan Quick longterm. A WINNING off-season, an off-season that would help improve this team and make it become a dynasty is signing Parise or trading for Nash. Teams are going to get better, we can't stand pat and not do anything. I want to win another one (I know, I'm selfish) but I think we have the core to do it. This team has experience now, they've been through it all, I wanna see them win more than 1, build a dynasty and Lombardi has set this team up perfectly.

No matter what we do this off-season, I will be happy with because I know Lombardi won't do anything wrong. He's admitted to his mistakes (I still think Forbort over Etem were a mistake - Or Hickey over Alzner) but it's ok. No one will even remember those mistakes because at the end of the day, we are CHAMPIONS!

So you're saying Toffoli won't help ?

I'm not too worried. But it blows my mind how nobody on this team can score.

Look at this:
Richards 10 games - 1 goal
Williams 10 games - 1 goal
Stoll 10 games - 1 goal
Gagne 8 games - 0 goals
Doughty 10 games - 0 goals
King 9 games - 0 goals
Penner 3 games - 0 goals, can't even make the lineup

So you're saying Toffoli won't help ?

He might. But the odds are he won't.

Can some people at least acknowledge that ?

Tofolli is not some dominant Winger in the AHL. He has to play all zones in the NHL.

Does he posses a good shot...Yes. Does that mean the Kings start scoring at 2.8 goals a clip...NO.

The Defense is a bigger problem right now as well.

Knock it off, all of you! Your team played great and has thoroughly outplayed the Wings! The only players on DRW that were even in the same building are Howard, Datsyuk, Flip, Brunner, and Ericsson. Keep playing like this and you will go far. Nothing even remotely sucks about the Kings or their effort. In fact, it's my team that should hang their heads in shame (starting with Babcock: whattahell was he thinking playing those pylons in the last minute of the game?). Wings showed up in the last 15 seconds. Good for them. I hope the trend goes into the next game.

Thanks for this post. It's good to get outside perspective.

I'm fine with keeping the lines as is against the Blues. I want them to build off of this instead of throwing in the towel.
