Guys more than half the teams each season that make the playoff's; if you include OT losses are 500. teams.

I mean think about that.

I know people expected the Kings to be the playoff Kings. But guys these are largely 25 to 28 year old Men. They have just won the only prize the matters in Hockey.

Is it really that surprising they are struggling ?

The Kings last year including OT losses, were 40-42.....

Let me say that again 40-42.... I mean anyone expecting that to be a dynasty, well it's no surprise you are angry.

We have problems scoring more than 2 goals per game. Same issue as last season. Our D is not what it was last season since we lost two to injuries.n Our O still hasn't put it together. Can't fault Quick for any of that. 45+ shots, only 2 goals.... there is a lot more here than saying this is 100% Quick's fault.

He allowed 2 goals that shouldn't have gone in. Any NHL starting goaltender should stop those shots he let in. Game was tied up, and Quick lets one in for the loss. (shrug)

Simply put, he couldn't match the effort and play of Howard's. It's been like that the whole year. His numbers have completely nosedived and he's not even a top 10 goalie this season...not even close. He needs to wake up, and blaming his **** ups on injuries to Mitchell and Greene isn't going to fly.

Quicks cap hit is at 1.8 mio$ therefor he should be restrained from criticism, eh?

Criticism of his play? Absolutely not. Herby's criticism of Richards is that he's not playing like he's an $8m player. My point is that he's not an $8m player to anyone but the owner, because to 99.9% of the hockey world, all that matters is his cap hit.

I feel like some of the guys are just having a hard time getting back into the game. I remember Duncan Keith saying after they won the cup, he wasn't into the game anymore and he was having a tough time enjoying hockey. Maybe some of the players are feeling this? idk

Lucic said the same thing, He said it's really hard to put any emotion into the game after you have won it all.

This is how I look at it, there's a bunch of reasons for our unsuccessful season...

1) Guys clearly weren't ready for a season, starting with Mike Richards, Martinez, etc. You know these guys weren't training in the off-season, especially Richards, he looks horrible.

Yeah, Martinez wasn't training in the offseason. He was playing in Finland and then recovering over surgery.

I would be shocked if Sutter starts Johnny B. Shocked.

Ok, the line bungle worked... but it didn't. It created energy and the Kings were buzzing, but there was not enough talent on any line to bury and skill related chances. The goals both came off busted, scrambly plays. The Kings had 45 shots, 18 scoring chances and two goals. That is mind boggling. NHL buries about 1/4 of your scoring chances.

What did Richards have to do with this loss? King had a ton of chances and I thought his line played fine. If King just lifted the puck and had a bit more skill the game would be a different story. There were zero goals against when they were on the ice together. I realize you guys want him to score more goals but Howard stopped 45 shots today. He was on fire.

I do not like the 2nd and 3rd lines at all. Carter at center did not shoot the puck enough because he was too busy trying to make plays. His linemates had 11 shots with nothing to show for it. They need Carter to shoot the puck. Just go back to what worked for the Kings last year and match Carter and Richards together on the second line. It's a waste the way they are right now.

So, what you are saying is thanks to the couple of bogus years on a contract (now illegal), Mike Richards shouldn't be expected to pay to the size of his paycheck?
And he isn't playing like a 5.8mio$ player either.

No one is giving Howard credit, the guy played out of his mind.

It happens in the NHL. Quick made a lot of fan's of opposing teams angry last year.

What exactly do you guys want from him ? Mike Richards is never going to be a 70 to 80 point player on the Kings.

ITS NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN. The PP would have to be world class for that to happen .

Richards had 40+ PP points in Philly those season.

What exactly are you guys expecting of him ?

Richards got off to a horrible start, but he has been fine the last three or four games

Richards is currently tied for the lead in points on team with Five.

What are you guys wanting from the guy.

Cause if your expectation was Richards was going to come in and lead the team in scoring every year.....Well no wonder you're angry.

What should concern people on the whole is, the Kings as a team are a minus.

You are not going to win hockey games giving up goals, and not scoring.

For him to grow a couple of inches taller. :sarcasm:

On to St.Louis! They are so not gonna be happy with us.

A 2nd line center (60Pts /82 GMS)...not a 3rd line overpaid center (40Pts)....
That's what he's payed to play...

Our points would be there is we had a functioning powerplay.

That is one of the glaring reasons the offense is just terrible.

The offense cant have both parts of it stinking up the joint.

Playoff's Kings PP wasn't that great, but the Five on Five scoring was fantastic.

Both when both parts are just awful.....Well you get what is going on here.

A 2nd line center (60Pts /82 GMS)...not a 3rd line overpaid center (40Pts)....

Well for Mike Richards to hit 60 points a season he would need about 20+ PP points.

So when ever the Kings figure out the PP, you will have your second line Center.

Till then Every single Center the Kings put into the second line is going to be subpar.

You could have Crosby there, but the PP doesn't generate points. Crosby turns into a 40 to 50 point player.

Not much to say. Disappointing result, but we played a great game. We need to start finishing those chances and it will make all the difference between playing a great game and finding a way to win regardless. We don't need to bench anyone or call up anyone or trade anyone.

On to St.Louis. Let's keep our streak of beating the teams we beat in the playoffs alive.

what is it with certain people's constant hate on for williams ? He busts his ass EVERY shift and constantly controls the puck in the o zone.
