With Drou, Hoffman and Armia gone this is the most likeable edition of the Habs in a very long time, which is amazing and sad at the same time knowing I'll still need to watch Gally doing Gally's stuff and Wideman+Dvo will be back at some point.

Getting X in the box is an advantage for the Leafs since it would force the Habs to play with 5D whereas it’d just be an inconsequential player in the box for them.

If X gets involved, it needs to matter and not be staged. I’d prefer X sticks to hockey but as you inferred earlier, the stage may just favor a tilt to happen.
Great point, making a team play 5 D while an inconsequential scrub sits in the Penalty box or at the end of his bench.

We score 1st.
Leafs score like 4 in a row and think they won.
We slowly claw back and force OT.
That kinda night.

Makes it seem like he's a f***ing G but 99% of the time he's just floating around lol.

Thats why he's frustrating, he's such an impactful player in a vacuum. In reality, he's not.
Anderson has always teased us with that occasional dominant performance only to disappear for several games. If he ever finds consistency, the Habs would improve instantly. Maybe this is the year.

Yay it's finally here!

I wonder how long it'll take before Anderson is moved off of the top line.

I feel a re-hash of last season's opener where the Habs defeat the Leafs and start the seasonal "fire everyone" discussion in Toronto.

I don't think he ever will, he is what he is.

He's a 3rd liner, a 7th or 8th forward.

Hopefully not too long.

Excited to see Mike Matheson show the entire league that he is a pretty damn good p
I'm hoping for a hell of a year from MM

The fact that MSL explicitly talked about getting him to improve his in-zone play/play without the puck/passing is encouraging. In past years, a coach would just try to "get him going" hoping for the good anderson to emerge. I think MSL (and the influx of talent to feed him chances) will help Anderson reach 40-50pts this year, and maybe that alteration to his approach will prevent him from wearing himself out and getting injured.

Is Xhekaj going to fight Reaves tonight? God, I hope not, no sense of risking injury on the first night of the season.

From the Leafs board, I don’t know what the outcome will be but X didn’t spend his summer meditating:

Wifi does some off season workouts close to my home. He hasn’t been shy about letting everyone know he has this game circled. He has been taking boxing lessons all summer.

We could see Andy transform late in the season last year. Finding open spaces, not just driving around the D man but cutting to the middle more, etc... I hope he has a good year because he has great tools and when everything is clicking, he's a tough player to defend against.

Not that it says a whole lot, but this is actually pretty interesting when you look at it..

Arber Xhekaj:

6’4, 238lbs

Ryan Reaves:

6’2, 225lbs

Reaves obviously the much more experienced fighter. Arber the much more important player. I’d love to see Arber make an ever bigger name for himself by winning convincingly, but the injury risk isn’t worth it.

Wifi isn’t only a fighter. Don’t fight Reeves he’s a lower bum. He has more to add than reeves success wise

Good don’t give him that. He’s a scrub
Physicality and intimidating is a big part of his game and it’s the reason why he’s in the line up and not Barron/Norlinder. Plus he’s a young player trying to earn a reputation, he has no choice to take that fight
