I don't understand the dismay here... Seems like some are just touting him based on his reputation, rather than his play this year, which has been abysmal.

I'm amazed to see constant complaining about him during the GDTs, yet when we trade him, it's even worse. Given his play this year, I'm not surprised about this return.

If this is it and we just dumped Gaborik, then I'll be extremely disappointed.

It feels like we removed a large brick in the wall and replaced it with a couple pieces of bricks on the side.

I'm so amused by all these posters who were clamoring to trade Gaborik for months and now they're upset. "He just doesn't fit" -- as if there is a team where weak floaters are a great fit. Don't forget that other teams have pro scouts, and if a player looks awful to you, it does to them to.

I also like that Jarmo was willing to admit error on the Gaborik trade, there's no way to whitewash Brassard, Moore, Dorsett for Frattin and 2nd and 3rd. I think a lot of GM's wouldn't make the move just because it's an admission of error.

Frattin has been bad this year, but maybe he is just more of an East-Coast kind of player. He showed a lot of promise last year. Can we send him down to the AHL now without passing through waivers? Also at that RW position we're so crowded we just benched Tropp (who was on an assist tear) and we demoted Skille (who was on a goal scoring tear). I'm hoping we send down Frattin and pull up Skille.

Personally, I think this trade is a bad one if Anisimov falls back into a drought, and a good one if he keeps scoring.

That is a great point.

while it doesn't make our team better tomorrow, it does't put the franchise in any worse of a position going forward.

I'm fine with him going, i've been against him since day one. And his play proved me right. I'm only concerned that we didn't get a D in return, we have 3 Frattin's sitting in the press box already...I hope that was setting up a move for D help

Hey major major, If Gaborik were a "weak floater" then why would a Stanley Cup contender look to add him at the trade deadline?

Man, you just don't get it, do you? The question is, are we better or worse without Gaborik. We are not worse without Gaborik. Frattin doesn't have anything to do with my opinion. Who knows if we will even play him. It is all about Gaborik. Trading him did nothing to hurt our chances of making the playoffs.
The same. I get it, you think Gaborik is great. Let's just agree to disagree. I am not changing my opinion on this topic.

Again. Gaborik and Anisimov were the only Jackets who scored in New Jersey. Then their line was responsible for 3 wins in a row. The Jackets just traded a part of their best over the last 4 games line.

And Frattin is? Thats the point most everyone is trying to make. We didnt need to trade him, he certainly would have helped this team more then Frattin is going to.

I'll take a 2nd and possibly a 3rd over 20+ more games of Gaborik.

I said right after Davidson made the "brick by brick" comment that as soon as they saw an opportunity they would go out and get an overpriced sniper who didn't fit the identity at all. They did with Gaborik.

Now I'm saying that this is NOT the right time to move him. It is much better to hang onto him for the 20 games and see what happens. Unless keeping him precluded them from making another move which DOES improve the team, you're selling low at a point when it would just make sense to hang on for whatever the player is worth during the season and worry about the offseason after you've been eliminated. We aren't talking about a player demanding to be traded or a UFA with tons of value here. At most you lose out on a fringe player and a mid pick.

:shakehead

A 2nd and maybe a 3rd is not nothing.

Assuming Frattin is a bum, a mid-second and a high third is not nothing.

Both the picks are conditional. Right now it's just Frattin that we're getting.

Gaborik was a -1, -1, +0, and +0 in his 4 games.

Has been my point all along. Well said.

That is a great point.

Actually I shouldn't say that no one will try to whitewash the Gaborik trades. Someone will persist in saying that trading Brassard Dorsett and Moore was valuable in clearing space, changing culture etc.. But we could have gotten a lot more for them than Frattin a 2nd and a 3rd, and Jarmo obviously knows that.

Made it Howson, fans would write about him like about an idiot. Btw, what Davidson did? Took Horton. The others are Howson players. I understand that we probably want the place for somebody but... Dorsett, Brassard and draft and now Frattin, and drafts... it is too much.

No they aren't. The 2nd isn't conditional.
