Hey guys, I'm a Leafs fan but a massive Gaborik fan.

I'll now be following the Jackets to see how Gabby gets on. I think both Columbus and New York did really well in this trade, at least I know that he'll be playing RW with the Jackets as opposed to LW with the Rangers.

Congrats :)

Let's not forget, Gaborik is having the worst year of his career since his rookie season.

Let's hope all he needed was a breath of fresh air.

Or, we could blame it on the cancer in the room............Nash! :sarcasm:

More like Mononucleosis, you know, tired one minute not the next...

As part of Gaborik trade, D Steven Delisle, 22, and D Blake Parlett, 23, also headed to Blue Jackets.

You dont get guys like gabo free. Imo jackets needed some profile player anyway (not acting like I would be your big fan and follower, guys).

How long deal was he? Kekäläinen said litle time ago that he seeks for high profile forward but is not going to get any 'till end of the season -type of players, as he is building this team long term.

Have not read the whole thread, but as a Ranger fan can anyone give me a quick scouting report on this John Moore?

At first, I was all like "whaaaa???"
And then, "huh?"
And now, "not too shabby."

Short term, CBJ add Gaborik and Comeau to the lineup while only losing Brassard. Feels like this team is better right now.

Longer term, Gaborik will be here at least one more year. The only real youth sacrificed is Moore, who I'll miss, but, as has been discussed, CBJ have honest to goodness depth among young dmen.

Dorse is replaceable.

Worst case to me is that Gaborik is ultimately a wash with Brassard in this next year+. I don't think that will be the case, but even if it is, that's a gamble I'd be willing to take. I wanted to keep Moore, but he isn't cracking the lineup now.

AND none of the 1sts have been traded.

Good trade. Moore is the only one that I am really hung up on. The other two were expendable.

Make the playoffs this year and the trade looks better.

I do...but i was talking more off the ice....sorry i couldn't expand I'm at work currently...Dorse has been the heart of this team and the only player in the past who has played hard while everyone else cruised. I understand we have guys to replace that now (foligno, dubs, etc). Im probably just over concerned because the cbj of the past would've crumbled losing a player like dorse

Solid skater. Good defensively. Underperforming offensive player. He's a #5 dman right now but can develop to a #3

I'm a sentimental guy so I'm sad to see Dorse and Brass go, but I really like this trade. Gaborik can be a good bridge, still relatively young. Howis he in shootouts? :sarcasm:

This isn't a full on rebuild. We'll be in the mix next year.

heh, most of the moves are salary neutral.

Gaborik deal = + 2 million and change
Mason deal = - 2 million

The salary gain is Comeau and 200K
