What these guys side. Everyone was belly-aching about roster space after the Letestu signing...well, Letestu is your 3rd line center, Arty/Johan are 1st and 2nd...no space for Brass...Letestu much cheaper...and guess what, now we have that roster space.

Yeah. Well said. This balances out our team better.

Not so sure how I feel about this one. Not sure Gaborik is the answer. I'll wait a few days before making a determination.

It'll be really interesting to see how the team responds tomorrow night.

Nash for Gaborik
Brass for Anisimov
Dorsett for Dubinsky
Moore forf Erixon
3rd and Delisle for 1st

I know that's not how it works but I can't help it. Personally, I prefer Nash to Gaborik but it's hard not to see this as a win.

I was just trying to look at it in this way. Still digesting, but I'm leaning toward liking it. The only piece I think I would have rather kept is Moore, but there are others who have stepped into and passed his spot on the squad. I like Dorse, but he is replacable. Won't miss Brassard. Gaborik? He brings some of what we lost in Nash. If he waived his NTC to come here, he's miles ahead of where Carter was when we got him.

Edit: and now I see Blake Comeau? Wow!

You traded an injured forward, a center you don't want and an excess d-man. You won by a mile.

I would never say Dorse was not wanted. He was redundant, but the fans love the guy.

Ranger fans will quickly grow to love him too.

Moore is already good, and still has massive upside.

You just got a good replacement for Erixon.

I am trying. Believe me. I know what Gaborik is/was/can be. I also know what he is/was/can be.

My issue is I had really fallen hard for Moore after his play last year. Admit that he's a valuable piece but from a position of strength. Erixon and Golo have potenial to fill same role.

In very much the same place myself.

If Gaborik goes back to his old form, we're in brilliant shape. He hasn't been there all year, though, so I worry.

It could work. It could work really really well. But I worry.

We didn't. We still have Murray, Jenner, and all 3 of our 2013 first round draft picks. We didn't trade any of our top assets for the future.

Other than John Moore, you mean.

We could afford it, but he was the guy I wanted to keep. :(

Hilarious to me how much CBJ fans overrate their own players. CBJ won HUGE here. Why do teams fans overrate their own parts?

Because they are familiar with what they have and knowing the players, fans wants them to be really good - suddenly they have a lot of potential.

I think Kekäläinen did great work here.

For a team building for the future, I don't understand why we make trades for today and not tomorrow.

This does not affect tomorrow at all - that is why it is a great trade.

Dorse is basically a 3rd liner/energy/goon. Great guy but expendable. John Moore is young, but let's be honest - he was expandable because we already have Murray/Erixon/Golubouf/Prout, plus Wiz/Jack/Nikita, so we are set with defense on top of whoever we take in the first round this year.

With Johansen/Jenner/Anisimov/Dubie we have the center depth to deal Brassard who was not a part of our future after the last couple disappointing seasons.

We gave up no high draft picks, top prospects, or any major core pieces. We added a sniper who will make all the young guys better and score some goals for the next couple years

I like from BJs perspective. Gaborik had a rough year, but so has many other Rangers and as some say.. he's not exactly thriving with Torts. Watch him score 40 for you next year.

...Really?
I thought Moore was our best young DMan and potential top line pairing. Thats why I dont like it so much.

Dorse is whatever and Brassard is decent but expendable. Im going to miss Moore. I will say, though, I would rather give up Moore than a 1st.

I don't like it... Only because of Dorse. I can't even get excited about Gaborik because I loved him. I thought he would be a lifetime Jacket. :(

Solidifies rangers as my second favorite team though.

I said our top assets :). IMO, those 5 were our top assets when it comes to trades.

Let's not forget, Gaborik is having the worst year of his career since his rookie season.

Let's hope all he needed was a breath of fresh air.

Or, we could blame it on the cancer in the room............Nash! :sarcasm:
