Gonna be forced to become a Ranger fan. Nash, Brass, Moore, Dorse, Stepan, McDonagh, Callahan, Lundqvist, Girardi... all guys I really like. At least my Dad who's from Long Island is happy

i'm less unhappy with this now. dorsett was perfect for the new identity of the team, and I don't want to see moore become another mcdonagh for the rangers. but gaborik's skill set is just what this team needed.

only frustration is how cheaply other players seem to have come this trade deadline compared to this- bouwmeester, iginla (though dif contract situation)... seems like full price for a guy who was already relegated to the 4th line and needed to be traded to resign other players.

This is rediculous as a Rangers fan. We dont score, like ever. All our new guys pot one tonight.....

To be honest, I don't think Clowe, Brassard, and Moore have seen this much open ice all season in the West.

Uh, don't look at the Rangers box score.

Now Moore gets his first with an assist from Brass.

Cup for Rangers for sure now! :sarcasm:

Maybe if the Pens had actually showed up tonight things might have been a little different.

We pulled 4 guys out of a room that, by all accounts, was really developing chemistry and becoming a team. How will that affect the atmosphere around the team? This may be an "old Jackets" mentality, but I am slightly concerned about upsetting the fung shwe (sp) by switching so many pieces out (and in).

During the streak of the last month, Mase has played backup, Moore has been injured or scratched and Dorsett has been injured. Really only Brass has been a regular contributor during the recent upsurge, so I'm not too concerned the atmosphere has been disrupted in a negative way.

I will have a problem next year since my two faves (Rags) will be in the same division.

I don't think it's our loss if Brass steps up his game, because he wouldn't do it for us, but if Moore does? If Moore becomes another Mcdonagh then, yes, we lose the deal. That's a really high bar though, and I don't think Moore can do it. We'll see.

The Jackets just sent a few of their players to the East (including Voracek) and they already own the conference. What's gonna happen next year when they send the whole team out there? That's scary.
BTW Mason probably is gonna have a shutout next time he starts for the Flyers.

For the love of, whether we "win" or "lose" the deal is a matter of what Gaborik does for us. Period. We had 2,635 defensive prospects in our system. So we traded one? The key is what we got back, an elite offensive player. While I have always wondered about Marion's grit, knowing how important character is to JD and KK, and knowing we have three guys on our roster who know Gabby well, I have no doubt that JD and KK felt that Gabby was the offensive stud who WOULD fit into our locker room without a problem.

What's funny to me is the Wild got to pick Gaborik because of the coinflip way back when, something that I feel we all have been grouchy about at some point. Oh well, we have him now I guess lol.

Hey guys Rangers fan dropping by.

I was disappointed that the Rangers didn't receive their first back in this trade, but after tonight's game I'm not gonna complain. That may seem super reactionary, but the Rangers never beat Pittsburgh. And it's super obvious that they won because of the new additions from this trade (and the trade with SJ for Clowe).

I sincerely hope Gaborik turns back into the 40 goal scorer he really is for the Blue Jackets. In CBJ he won't be forced to play his off wing and he'll be let loose without Tortorella's system (that never fit for him) holding him back. Us Rangers fans love Gaborik and will give him a standing ovation when he comes back to the garden.

Even though he did not fit the system perfectly he tried and did adjust his game to a more Rangers-esque style. Before he came to NYR he did not score garbage goals. You'll find that in addition to sniping that he can definitely tuck away those loose pucks quickly. I will forever remember Gaborik for his triple OT heroics vs the Capitals in the playoffs. He scored that goal with a torn rotator cuff which is extremely painful and severely limits arm motion. He has a history of injury but his health improved significantly with the Rangers. If he can play, he will.

You guys got a great player. Enjoy having a star back in Columbus and best of luck making the playoffs.

I don't think Jarmo would blow his load on a trade for a guy who is already over the hill (a sentiment I've seen a couple times in the boards ["doesn't have his first step"]).

I hope...

I don't think that's what he did. He didn't give up any 1sts, we knew a D was going to get shipped at some point, and Brassard was not likely to get resigned given the composition of the team. That leaves Dorsett as the load

And if not we clear 7.5 million. People are going to have to be shedding tons of salary this offseason, that's where we will pounce.

Isn't it amazing how much your franchise's look has changed from last year? It looked like doom and gloom and now there is so much to look forward to.

Very happy for you guys. :handclap:

+1

We could have traded Dick Tarnstrom for Sidney Crosby and there would be morons who'd b!tch about it because they have a mancrush on DickT.

Have some perspective people.

We traded a border line 2nd line center who is overpaid and we didn't want, plus a 3rd pairing d-man who MIGHT develop into a 2nd pairing d-man, plus a 4th line winger who's out for the season for a legitimate 40 goal scorer.

We still have 3 first round picks and we're now in a stronger position to make the playoffs. We're in good shape.

Trust me there is no one in our locker room who wouldn't rather have Marian F-ing Gaborik than any of the scrubs we gave up.

I'm thrilled Brass had a great night. Deep, deep down 4 points stings a little but I'm really just happy for him. Likewise with JohnnyMoore. Don't really get why some Ranger fans have to bash Gabby at all turns when most of us just want our former guys to succeed but different strokes for different folks I guess. At least a lot of them are being gracious.

^^^ this guy, for example, is cool lol!

Just as long as Gaborik doesn't ;)

Even if Gaborik doesn't pan out with the Jackets this year or next, we can deal him at the trade deadline next year and get more in return for him than we gave up this year. Win-win.

I loved this deal. And the more I analyze it the more I love it. And this is coming from a person who's all time favorite player is Dorsett. How can one not like this deal!?
