Very Impressed with the trade. I think the trade works for both teams, but its a win for the jackets because the parts we traded were to varying degrees redundant.

Brassard has been passed on the depth chart by three centers (Johansen, AA, and Dubi) and is overpaid for third/fourth line play regardless. He fits the playmaking need for the Rangers, but his time here was over.

Dorse is a heart and soul guy, but with JMFJ, Dubi, Foligno, etc we have those guys with more skill. Sucks to lose him, but on the ice I don't think we miss him that much.

Losing Moore hurts, would rather have given then Nikitin and a third but at the same time you have to give to get. Moore has #2 D-man potential, though I personally greatly doubt he turns into a top pairing guy, He does some things well but nothing great which might be his achilles heal.

I'm very excited to see if Johansen can click with Gaborik. Johansen has top end playmaking ability and could set the table well for the sniper. If Gabby finds his form this trade becomes a huge win for the Jackets.

Edit: Also the best thing about this trade is that we still have all our 1st!

There have to be limits to free speech. This is a private board after all.

Porn, gore, abusive language, trolling, cyber-bullying, etc. I have no problem with any of these things.

But if you're a Jackets fan and you think we got hosed, your hockey IQ and basic understanding of the NHL is so far beneath the 101 posting requirements that I think you should be IP banned for just having no idea.

But will Gabby fit into the system?

Gaborik was the only star on Minnesota Wild team in 2003, when they went to the Conference finals. The modern Jackets remind me a lot of that Jaques Lemaire's team.

This trade for Gabby is like going 10 years back in time. He should fit well.

This is one where we have to trust JD. I'll be shocked if Gabby signs an extension with us - he showed with Minny that he wanted to test the waters. That doesn't mean we won't be able to resign him but he'll come at a price.
Personally I don't think he's the greatest guy (reputation wise) to build our offense around. Sounds like he's lost a little on his shot, he's getting older and he (in the past) has relied on his speed.
The obvious upside is besides Moore I don't think we gave up much. Love Dorsett but energy forwards are a dime a dozen. Brassard (like Mason) probably needs a fresh start. Also we desperately need goals and that is what Gabby gives us.
I'm also guessing Prospal was consulted as well - since he spent some time there. I guess I probably remember Gabby too much as being hurt and then leaving Minny. Hopefully he's changed (and healthier) and he can help us out.
Also I trust JD so much more than IDWT (like when Doug went out and signed Feds to sell tickets and salvage a season lol) and Howson (infamous Carter trade).

Hate to see Moore go, I also think he has top pairing in his future.. Brass has run his course as a CBJ. Good luck to him in NY. Dorsett's grit and character will be missed, but as others have said, he is replaceable.

So much for JK wading into his job!

NYR Fan coming in peace. Just wanted to say that I wish Gabby the best of luck in CBJ. You guys are my favorite team out in the West for well obvious reasons. It's going to be interesting with you guys in the division next year though. Gabby was one of my favorite players. two 40 goal seasons for us. He will be missed and if he comes out of this shell that he is in then you guys will be sure to love him. Best of luck!

I really like this move for you guys. :handclap:

Got rid of redundancy and added a guy who will hopefully be an elite goal scorer. Even if he doesn't work out, his contract is off the books after next year. That's a lot of cap space to play with for the new guys.

doesnt Letestu have #10?

He did but during the press conference, Davidson said Letestu already gaved up the number 10. He will now wear 55. As Davidson said 5 + 5 = 10 so he still has the number 10 connection. Also went onto say that these are the type of players we have in our lockerroom(I guess indicating being a team player, classy, etc).

Wow with Dubinsky and Foligno back our immediate forward depth didn't even take a hit.

Dorsett was pretty redundant around here. I hope Oshawa finishes up soon so we can get the guy who's going to make us forget all about him here already.

Reading this thread as a neutral fan is weird. I feel like CBJ fleeced NYR but it seems like the general concensus in here is that Jarmo over paid.

I dunno... Brassard always seemed like a guy who is a third line center but doesn't really fit in that slot... Not good enough for the top-6.

Moore is a decent young LH defenseman, nice to have around for depth but doesn't hurt too bad moving him.

Dorsett I guess kind of sucks for you guys, he was a real **** disturber and made CBJ a pain to play against but you gotta give up a little bit if you're going to bring in a 40 goal scorer....

I think CBJ got quite a bit better today, but I only watch them play 6-10 times
a year.

I don't agree with that.

He's only 31.

Goal scorers historically peak in their early to mid 20's. I think it's safe to say that Gaborik is passed his prime but he did just score 40+ goals last year and 40+ in 2010.

Considering I think I just saw Moore out there for warmups, that's impressive getting to the rink in 4 minutes.

FlightAware is prone to be wrong, sometimes. I went on a cross-country flight that never arrived, even though I distinctly remember bringing the airplane back in one piece.
