Surprisingly. Both Moore and Brass wil be in tonight for the Rangers vs Penguins. Thought you guys might be interested in seeing them in the new Uniforms. We were shocked over on the Rangers board.

Gaborik on TSN: "It's good that somebody actually wants you on the team."

Doesn't sound happy with what transpired between him and Tortorella.

Damn straight. Good for Gabby. Can't believe the organization gave up on him before Torts :shakehead

He'll get his flair back in CBJ playing with Vinny and Arty no question. Good trade for you guys.

Maybe Davidson actually did fly them into New York on Stinger1. :naughty:

Really rooting for you guys, and for Gabby to shove it back in Torts' face. It's not the player, rather the coaching of said player; two two types simply dont fuse more often than they do.

I'm indifferent about the trade, as it could work out either way, or in both of our favors, but I hope Gabby lights it up for you guys. Until you play us, that is

Well after some thought I guess this is actually an awesome move. Never thought there would be a day when Marian Gaborik would be a Bluejacket. I really think Brass' playmaking ability was taken for granted here(see:voracek) because he(they) didnt score enough goals and people just cant accept him for the player he is considering how high of a pick he was. But I understand we have Anisimov and Johansen and they both can handle anything Brass can at this point. Dorse is NOT a dime a dozen player!!(I hate you people that cant see the difference between a Mackenzie and Calvert or the difference of a Dorsett and Drew Miller) But I understand his value to us has been reduced by the number of "character" guys added to the team. He will be a huge help for the Rengers NEXT YEAR. I'd rather see Erixon shipped out than Moore but in this case it obviously wasnt happening. We have enough young d-men that it really doesnt matter which is CRAZY to think about for the 1st time.

Gaborik to CBJ...my mind still cant quite grasp this. While the dude very well could be out of his "prime" he can still score goals. And really thats all this team is missing right now. Goal scorers also NEVER forget how to score. The key here is an extension along with 1 for who I think should be his center.

Bonus Question: If Artem Anisimov centers a "1st" line with Gaborik on his wing is he a "1st line center"??

Tim Erixon is a way better player than Moore. And I was saying it for a year now.
And we don't have a 1st line. We've had three 2nd lines all year long.

Guy has two 40+ goal seasons under Torts and it's the coach's fault he hasn't been producing?

He needed the change of scenery. I don't think he'll be the 40+ goal scorer he was in Minnesota and for two seasons in New York, but he'll definitely be the biggest threat the Jackets have to score the rest of this season and, barring the drafting and/or development of one of their prospects, next season as well. He's frustrating because when he isn't scoring goals he doesn't really do much else, but the Jackets need a guy who can score goals right now. They have plenty of other players capable of filling those other roles that Gabby has trouble filling.

Similar to the Nash trade I don't think either team is a clear "winner". Both teams traded for what they needed in order to improve as a team.

Double Bonus Question: If Derick Brassard centers a line with Rick Nash that goes on to win a cup, does Doug MacLean get his name on it??

If RJ plays the wing on the first line is he considered a first line winger??? If Anisimov centers the first line with Gabby he will be considered a 1st line center if his line scores game winning points..

Gaborik can't do it alone, we will see.

Acquiring Gaborik obviously makes us a better team over the next year, and possibly longer. And I was hoping (yes, hoping) that Moore, Dorsett, and Brassard would be moved. But my hope was that we would move them for a younger scorer like Bobby Ryan, so I'm a little disappointed that this limits our trade options going forward.

But this is a big roster upgrade for the present! All in for the playoff push!

We dealt from our strength. Just like most of us wanted. We couldn't wait for Moore to become a great d-man (if that ever comes to pass, NOT a given). He's still cost-controlled. He or Erixon had to be dealt to make this happen.

Brassard had never been part of the solution and Jarmo apparently thinks he never will.

Gaborik is not in his prime that's for sure, but I think he has enough left in the tank to help this club escape the losing culture and bridge the gap to a winning one...
