I was initially a little saddened by the loss of Moore but I suppose our depth is there and he was an extra. Dorse was a roleplayer who was out the season, hopefully we find someone with his commitment to replace him. Brass... I'd given up on him really.

Hoping we get a good performance from Gabby. The deadline really annoyed everyone I was with because I paid zero attention to everyone and 100% attention to my twitter feed!

Same feelings on Moore, also really liked Dorsett's game. But if you take away the names this trade boils down to

a tweener 2nd C
a potentially good defenceman
a gritty 3rd/4th line heart and soul type of player, fan favourite, but replaceable

for

a premier goal scorer

Looking it like that I think we easily win this trade.

I don't know if this has been brought up already but have you guys realized that now the number of Blue Jackets' 1st round draft picks from 2000 to 2009 still with the club is: 0.

Not mentioned, but I just heard them mention it on NHL Network... 10 first round picks gone.. amazing. Johansen and Murray know as well... :)

Do Delisle and Parlett have any sort of NHL upside?

Strictly cap dumps. Parlett may get a cup of coffee here and there. I'm sure you know delisle.

edit: contract not cap dumps.

The Doug Maclean era is officially over.

All in all . . . .

:handclap: :yo:  :yo: :handclap:

I hate to see Dorsett go, a lot. That guy has earned massive respect for continually upping his game.

Brassard was showing signs of life lately, and always seemed to perk up after a coaching change, so maybe he will find his game on Broadway.

Moore I liked but you have to give up something to get something back. And defensive depth does not seem to be a problem. (Spoken from the depths of a Dalton Prout mancrush.)

I've liked Gaborik's game since Day one. He's a huge upgrade for the Jackets.

I wish all the ex-CBJ the best, even Mason. Maybe he'll thrive in the new environment.

Jarmo is without a doubt the finest Finnish GM the NHL has ever had!!

Nice move boys. Happy that y'all could add a player of Gabby's caliber and still keep your 3 1st. :handclap: Hope to see you guys have plenty of success going forward.

The Doug Maclean era is officially over.

Jared Boll runs you through the boards. I know he's not a 1st round pick, but he is a survivor of the Dougie era. We did just dump the 2006 draft today. Outside of Boll, the only thing left pre 2008 is Will Weber. I think. I guess York is still kind of in play.

Everyone remember back in the day when we were in on Richards, and then he went to Dallas and we became bigtime sellers? I like this feeling better. :D

Rangers fan here. Interesting trade all around. I am not sure what the exact reason is, but Gaborik has been a complete shell of himself this season. Not only is he not scoring, but he rarely gets chances and just didn't seem to have the motivation he did last season. When this guy isn't scoring, he is utterly useless. Make no mistake, he does NOTHING else. He won't battle in the corners, he won't block a shot and he shys away from all physicality. If the reason he hasn't been scoring is maybe one of confidence and him just needing a change of scenery this may turn out to be a great deal for a fantastic scorer. Ah, and that brings me to the type of scorer he is. He has a pretty nice snap shot(which has been completely MIA this season), but his main area of expertise is his ability to find open areas and finish. Last season he always seemed to be johnny on the spot with the open net to pot one home, almost like an insinct or 6th sense he has. He scored a few snipes and breakaways also. I am very interested to see how he does and I wish him the best in Columbus...he should be right at home playing with Anisimov!

Dammit. I thought Boll was younger for some reason.

Doug Maclean era still gasping on life support.

Not that I dislike Boll.

This is awesome, you guys got the best player today while giving up not much more than spare parts. I'm so excited for this team (especially since Bob is my favorite player in the league) and I'm thrilled to see the Jarmo effect. Gaborik is going to re-ignite this team's offense.

You guys win this trade, hands down. Gaborik has been snake bitten as of late, but he's had great chances in most games this season. I would say next season he will be at his full potential.

Never was high on Moore. He's a great skater and everything, but his hockey sense (positioning, decision making) weren't any good for me to like him.
Dorse is also a replaceable 3rd liner with stone hands. Also not my favourite type of player.
I gonna miss Brassard the most out of those three.

Hey guys, I assume Nash was linemates with neither Dorsett or BRassard, but how was the locker room between the three?

or was it just normal, "we're teammates" type of chemistry?

thanks for the info

Brass played with Nash for a bit. Dorsett never did. Dorse was the leader when Nash was shunned from the locker room last year. No bad blood between any of them.

Nash and Brass were linemates for extended periods of time.
