I love the trade. Brassard was wearing out his welcome, Moore was superfluous, and Dorsett is well-liked but quite frankly, a dime a dozen.

And we still have 3 first round picks.

Very well put DJ couldn't agree more. except maybe Brass' welcome was WORN out.

Gaborik is a gem. He's gonna score more than Nash ever did. So happy for you guys!! Best of luck and much respect for sticking with the team through thick and thin, it will pay off for you guys i promise. You won't be disappointed, he is a top 5 RWer in the league. Now that he's away from Tortorella's poison he will thrive. This is coming from a Ranger fan, the guy is an all-world talent and will be scoring goals with a smile for you guys. Enjoy the gift of Gaborik ! Hopefully our new fellas thrive as well.

Wish Gaborik all the success in the world for you guys (other than against us of course :D).

This might not mean much to you all, but I swear that Marian has like....3 OT goals for the 3 times I've posted this celebratory GIF in a GDT. Enjoy and good luck!

You know what I'm happy about for you CBJ fans? It has to be a great feeling that your organization is trading for a guy like this for a playoff push. It's about time. Gaborik's time was up in NY, good deal for both clubs. Good luck to you guys, I'm rooting for NYR west. :D

Gabby will be more than fine for you guys. He scored 40 goals twice on the Rangers, that on it'self is all that needs to be said. The Rangers are a black hole where offense and creative goes to die. I fully expect him to produce immediately for you guys and more so than he did for us. Gabby bashers who wanted him gone seem to have short memory when it comes to the dip in offensive production players have when they join the Rangers. Sure he may be having an off year now, but HE PRODUCED AS A RANGER, that can't be stated enough.

#CBJ emphatic Gaborik did not need to be persuaded to waive his no-trade clause. "It was quick," POHOP John Davidson said. "He's excited."

of course he is. i'm still shocked when offensive players choose to come to nyr when offered similar or more money in FA. If you come to NY you will not score as much as you used to PERIOD. It's nothing new, it's been a part of this organization's history. Gabby will produce as soon as he gets out of NY.

I was initially a little saddened by the loss of Moore but I suppose our depth is there and he was an extra. Dorse was a roleplayer who was out the season, hopefully we find someone with his commitment to replace him. Brass... I'd given up on him really.

Hoping we get a good performance from Gabby. The deadline really annoyed everyone I was with because I paid zero attention to everyone and 100% attention to my twitter feed!

Gabby is CLUTCH in OT. Even when he isn't playing well he scores huge goals.

Had the game 3 OT winner in the playoffs. Has 2 OT winners this year (against BOS and NYI), had 3 last year (NYI, BOS, and FLA).

That's perfect for us because we never finish a game in regulation.

:amazed:

- Brassard was expendable.. underperforming big contract whos a soon FA.
- Moore is a loss, but expendable also due to rise of Erixon, everyone will forget Moore when Murray replaces him.
- Dorsett is a blow also, but we have similar players all over lineup who have skill, also Jenner can provide grit who will be here soon.

So in my view, you upgrade Brassard to Gaborik, at the expense of Dorsett.. great asset management

Well, this team has truly commenced its remake today. I'm not sure I understand all of the moves, especially this one.

I love the Mason deal and the Comeau deal as well. I think its great that they kept all of the 1st round picks. After today, this is JD & JK's team.

As a fan, I will place my trust in this new front office.

Rangers and columbus we are essentially one. I will be rooting for you guys for quite some time.

Love a lot of the guys you have there. Gaborik is an absolute stud. He's a better pure goal scorer than Nash. You will love him.

Rangers fans should be excited for the return. They lacked depth and immediately addressed it.

Dorsett is a valuable player (Marchand but not quite as good offensively). I personally hated him because I hate pests and he can take bad penalties, but he has his purpose.

Brassard is a capable 2nd line center. First time away from the Jackets, maybe he thrives who knows.

Moore is a gem. He's big, skates real well, and is good in both ends. You will really like him.

You're gonna like him. I think with a change of scenery he's gonna be the great scorer he always was. Just don't think he got along with the coach.

Great for both sides imo. Jackets get the smoothest sniper in the game, and the Rangers get the depth they need.

It's been a pleasure doing all this business

Without reading others' comments I like the deal. We got a guy who has scored lots of goals and gave up not much in terms of how I see the team developing long term. Only potential problem I see is how he will adapt to what appears to be a defense first philosophy.

Can't wait to see Gaborik with the Jackets. Hopefully the change of scenery and the move out of a huge media market like NY gets him producing again. I'm rooting for Columbus to make the playoffs this year. :)

He won't have a problem. Torts literally neutered him to an extreme point. he will think he is playing for pittsburgh being outside of torts method.

Really is going to shine bright for you guys. Thankfully i have his olympic jersey so i can always wear it with pride and say im rooting for you guys ;)

...Really?
I hated this deal at first, but I'm growing to like it.

Especially when Dubi comes back and Brassard would have become expendable. And then with Boone...

It filled holes for both teams. A win-win. Now lets watch Gaborik score some ****ing goals.
