New lineup sounds exciting.

Hags-Stepan-Nash
Clowe-Richards-Callahan
Pyatt-Brassard-Zucc
Powe-Boyle-Asham/Dorsett

If richards ever finds his game that looks like 3 solid Centers and 6 solid top forwards. Maybe put zucc on LW instead of Hags

What the **** is this horse****?!?!?!?!

Fml. I hate this ******* team.

I would rather have the picks we sent for Clowe than the crap we just traded Gabs for.

Sather you totally ****ed up this deadline.

Brassard has been mediocre his entire career. People here keep talking about his upside, people have been talking about his upside for years now. When is that upside coming?

I'm unimpressed. I'll be sitting here waiting to eat my words on him.

Even if he has no more upside, he is a 40 pt 3C. That is pretty damn good. Is this a dream? Are people really calling that mediocre? :help: That is damn good for a 3C.

So for the rest of the season we are looking at:

Hagelin - Stepan - Nash
MZA - Richards - Callahan
Clowe - Brassard - Dorset (when healthy)
Powe - Boyle - Ashram

??

Looks like crap to me.

Honestly guys. Not trying to be antagonistic but what do you think we could have gotten for Gaborik? 2 first rounders? a first and a second? i highly doubt it. I don't like Sather, but I don't think Gaborik would have gotten us much more in return than what we got. 7.5 million due to him and the NHL salary cap going down next year. Not many teams willing to give up future prospects/picks for a guy making that much putting up bad numbers this year.

Someone tag this thread and the Clowe one, so it can be bumped next year for the benefit of re-reading posts like this one.

That's it!

I don't care where we are currently but this better get us a Cup. None of this ******** I heard about it being a shortened season, injuries, players not being motivated, whatever. Enough excuses. I want the Cup.

No Cup? Get Torts the hell away from this team and someone rid Sather from his duties. Enough.

Don't turn around from a bubble team last in GF to cup winners in few months? Failure.

Which is my point.

The guy is a 3C, Third-line-center.

Gaborik for:

Third-line-center
Prust^2
Another defense project

...

:help:

if Brassard can become a 55-60 point 2nd line C, then I think this trade is ok. If he can't, :(

Good luck on that!! We've been waiting for 6 years for him to develop! 40-45 pts is the best you will see out of him!

You'll love Dorsett though, a leave it all on the ice player as you will ever see. Pisses off opposing players big time but does take the occasional dumb penalty. Hes the one I hate losing the most. Moore? overated in my opinion but he is still young.

This team is starting to look last year's team but with different names.

I think it was a terrible time to trade Gaborik... Superstar having a terrible season coming off of shoulder surgery. Of course he isn't going to get much in return.

I am happy though the team is toughing up. It's not like Gaborik was really producing anyway.

It is. I'm happy about that. Last year we looked like we were a piece or two away from a cup, this year we look absolutely lost.

Mediocrity? Really? You think these players are mediocre?

Brassard is 25. 40-50 point center on terrible Columbus teams as of now.

Dorsett is not a Prust-lite. Prust is Dorsett-lite.

Moore has 2nd paring potential. Nothing to scoff at.

You're right. He's 25.

Regardless, in today's game, offensive players are peaking younger and younger. Expecting a large increase in his output is pretty unlikely. Calling him a 40-50 point center is generous, considering he's never scored 50 points. 40-45 point center is more accurate.

Again, for a 40 goal scorer, we got a mediocre second liner/decent third liner, a good fourth liner, and a 3rd pairing defenseman with the potential to be a second (even though he'll never be one on our team).

How does this make our team better? Present or future?

I'll wait.

Oh, what makes you think Dorsett is better than Prust?

Prust has better stats than Dorsett, played perfect defense, had great speed, and played the PK perfectly.

In a year or two:

Hagelin-Stepan-Nash
Kreider-Miller-Callahan

is our likely top six.

Clowe-??-Fast
Powe-Lindberg-Dorsett

is our likely bottom six.

Brassard will likely fill that third line center spot for a bit while Lindberg/Nieves develop. I firmly believe Nieves will be a much better fit (nevermind I think he'll just be plain better) than Brassard at that spot.

Staal-DZ
McD-G
(some combination of this top 4)
Moore/Skjei-McIlrath

will be our defense.

Don't get me wrong, it's always good to have defensive depth, but I'm not willing to trade a 40 goal scorer for someone who is going to be playing on the third pair, fourth line, and maybe third line center.

This isn't a trade for this year, and it doesn't really help us that much in the future either.

I love how when regarding Clowe the only thing that matters is his past seasons, while Gaborik only this season matters.

This sucks. It sucks because we lose Gaborik who was an incredible Ranger and because the return is mediocre.

****.

I wish Dorsett was ready now because we could sure use a player like him now...

I guess getting 3 useful players instead of nothing back when he walks after next year.. maybe now we're 1 goal scorer away from a cup again. who knows.

Thank you!

Stop talking about the guys non-existent "upside."

Changing teams may make some difference. Prust was an extra forward when he came here and he turned into an incredibly valuable bottom 6 guy, now he's making bank and getting good minutes in MTL.

I'm not saying that I'm counting on Brassard getting better, but let's not pretend that changing teams has never made a positive difference for a player.

Is it really all that different/worse from last year's team?

Add:
Nash, Clowe, Brassard, Dorsett (when healthy)

Subtract
Gaborik, AA, Dubi, Fedotenko

If they get Staal back and Richards wakes up, why can't this team be a top team?

Considering that last year's team was amongst the best in the league, and this year's team is now comprised of 15% of the worst team, yea, I think there is a difference.
