Mediocrity? Really? You think these players are mediocre?
Brassard is 25. 40-50 point center on terrible Columbus teams as of now.
Dorsett is not a Prust-lite. Prust is Dorsett-lite.
Moore has 2nd paring potential. Nothing to scoff at.
You're right. He's 25.
Regardless, in today's game, offensive players are peaking younger and younger. Expecting a large increase in his output is pretty unlikely. Calling him a 40-50 point center is generous, considering he's never scored 50 points. 40-45 point center is more accurate.
Again, for a 40 goal scorer, we got a
mediocre second liner/decent third liner, a good fourth liner, and a 3rd pairing defenseman with the potential to be a second (even though he'll never be one on our team).
How does this make our team better? Present or future?
I'll wait.
Oh, what makes you think Dorsett is better than Prust?
Prust has better stats than Dorsett, played perfect defense, had great speed, and played the PK perfectly.
In a year or two:
Hagelin-Stepan-Nash
Kreider-Miller-Callahan
is our likely top six.
Clowe-??-Fast
Powe-Lindberg-Dorsett
is our likely bottom six.
Brassard will likely fill that third line center spot for a bit while Lindberg/Nieves develop. I firmly believe Nieves will be a much better fit (nevermind I think he'll just be plain better) than Brassard at that spot.
Staal-DZ
McD-G
(some combination of this top 4)
Moore/Skjei-McIlrath
will be our defense.
Don't get me wrong, it's always good to have defensive depth, but I'm not willing to trade a 40 goal scorer for someone who is going to be playing on the third pair, fourth line, and
maybe third line center.
This isn't a trade for this year, and it doesn't really help us that much in the future either.
