Agreed.

But what do you think of my bolded part?

The only way anyone can think we won this deal is if they thought Gaborik was completely finished in his NHL career. IF he isn't, and even bounces back to be a 35 goal 65 point forward, we still got fleeced.

Could the deal have been better? Sure. Do I think we got fleeced? No.

I think Brassard will be a good player for us. Dorsett was a fan favorite in Columbus. Moore is a skating, puck rushing defensive prospect.

Before these trades I can tell you teams were not afraid to play against us. We were extremely soft. Once Dorsett gets better and back in the lineup, and now with Clowe, other teams will think a bit differently now.

I said the other day that I wish they got a consistent 20 goal scoring LW or C and a good prospect/pick id be fine with moving him. The way he was playing he was adding nothing to the system, and if Slats is committed to Torts then he wasnt going to be a good fit. We cant live with a pure scorer who gets as cold as he is. Things went sour, too many RWs. I

IF you can get 20 out of CLOWE, then he is the consistent scorer with a ton of, yes, Jam and it fits into the system better. Again, if the Rangers are committed to Torts, then these are ok moves.

20 what out of Clowe? dollars?

and we still won't be able to score so who cares?

Not sure how to feel about this. If nothing else it is a clear indication that Dolan/Sather are going all in on Torts. Just judging by the guys they brought in. I think this brings us back to a problem of secondary scoring again though. Even having an off year the opposing teams needed to respect Gaborik and his sniping. Brassard, meh not so much. Moore could end up the best piece we get back from this trade. I like it in terms of moving salary, but I feel we could have gotten a better return at the draft.

Can we try to keep the Torts whining in the thread made for it? Can we have one thread that revolves around something aside from blaming the coach for every single problem that the team has? It's beyond stale.

Gaborik had the best years of his career playing for Torts. He looked awful almost all of this year in the same system with more talent around him than in the past. Maybe it's surgery recovery, maybe its an attitude thing, whatever it is, it's not the team system because again, and for the millionth time, he scored 40 goals twice in that system.

Yeah, and he's gotten banged up doing in said system, which leads me to believe that he was mailing it in to save his body for the walk year. Watch him crack 9M on a cap hit next season, can do things at will that few can.

I think this is actually a pretty good deal, overall.

Brassard has some offensive punch, isn't exactly old yet, and was a highly thought of draft pick. He could still benefit from a change of scenery, so we'll wait and see with him.

Dorsett will be a godsend. He'll do a good job of replacing Prust and become a fan favorite.

Moore looks really good. Love his stride. Has some offensive upside. Wish he was right handed. Overall, we get depth, move salary and, coupled with Clowe, kind of get a Dubi/Prust replacement from Clowe/Dorsett. Could work out well for us. The team, however, has really changed over the last 10 months. A lot.

Moore can still develop into a really good, two-way, middle pairing dman. Really wish he was RH. Brassard should be good for ~40+ points and still COULD be a guy who puts up 50+. Dorsett will be a fan favorite and provide something needed.

What I love, is people think Gaborik is finished because of his slow production from this season, and look at his past as no way to measure the player he is.

Yet, those same people are excited to add Clowe, who has 0 goals this season in 28 contests, and using his past as a validation to his worth.

Irony much?

Brassard 3.2 mill, RFA after next season.
Dorsett 1.63 mill, UFA after 2014-15
Moore 0.965 mill, RFA after next season.

Saving some cap. I'm starting to come over on this a little bit after the first shock. Saving some salary while adding a good center. Strong indication Richards will be bought out and Clowe will resign.

It could be worse.

Well said. It could be worse. Just think when Richards is bought out that is two way overpaid guys out of here. Hopefully in a year or two guys like Miller, Kreider, Fast, etc will be ready to step up and take on bigger minutes while guys like Step, Hags, Cally, Clowe and Nash continue to be top 1/2nd line players.
Hope we get to see this guy Moore tonight instead of Hamrlik.

Brassard has another year and then he is a group II. Dorsett is signed for two more seasons. Moore has another season left on his ELC.

Yeah, total shot at Torts there.

Yes sir, glad Gabby got that in.. Everyone knows one of them was gonna go after juice on the ice last week with Tortsaroni,,..

Hope Gabby scores large rest of the season an next season.. To prove a Point that the system in place DONT WORK!.. THATS WHY WE HAVE LOWEST SCORING IN THE FREAKIN NHL..

Pretty happy about this in real life. Not in nhl 13 l though, gaborik is one of the best players in the game.

so Moore plays RD right? please say he does:laugh:

McDonaugh, Girardi
Staal, Moore
Del Zotto, McIlrath

that's dandy. Stralman in for Mcilrtah for course but the future is bright

Hamrlik, Eminger and Gilroy are gone as UFA. Our bud Bickel may be the 7th, argh

Yeah it's pretty funny actually

Not necessarily. You can't look at it like "Gabs is gone were worse at scoring" because he wasn't scoring in the first place this year. We need a shake up. We have tons of players on this team who could score, we just need a spark. Clowe and Brassard might give us that.
