We basically gave up Gaborik AA Dubi Erixon a 1st rd pick for Nash and brassard lol

By "basically" you mean to the exclusion of a factual description of the trade correct? Lol

Dubi was grossly overpaid at 4mil per which was a major factor in Nash trade. Dorsett is tougher and more offensively gifted than Prust yet you fail to include as well as Moore who is susposed to have upside. Brassard has scored 1 less point then gabby this yr and fills a gaping hole and is a much better two way player.

We have lindberg, fast, mcilrath, kreider and miller in the mix next yr with these moves. We will be in very good shape!

I understand that Gaborik needed to go, but the best thing he got in return was a 6th round pick?

Wow.

A shame Columbus didn't accept Gaborik for Anisimov, Duby, Erixon, and a first.

I can't wait until people see how different this Ranger team is in the next couple weeks. This team just got 50x tougher to play against. Just counting the days until Dorset comes back :yo:

We were tough last year too... and despite a great reg season should have been done in round 1, because we couldn't and STILL CANT score goals.

Not too sure about this trade, a lot of changes just to return to the depth the team lost in the Nash trade and lose a first in the process, and that's the part that bugs me.

so Moore plays RD right? please say he does:laugh:

McDonaugh, Girardi
Staal, Moore
Del Zotto, McIlrath

that's dandy. Stralman in for Mcilrtah for course but the future is bright

Hamrlik, Eminger and Gilroy are gone as UFA. Our bud Bickel may be the 7th, argh

If all that pans out that defense core looks GREAT to me. Moore and Mcilrath obviously the x factors, but i guess there is potential there.

He's been recovering from injuries all season long. I don't see why he can't be.

You mean like Gaborik recovering from a shoulder surgery, trying to get back into form to be a 30-40 goal scorer? Well, I guess I don't see any reason why Gaborik can't return to that either then.

Jesus. It goes both ways guys. If something applies to Gaborik it applies to Clowe. If Gaborik is done, than so too is Clowe.

You can't just be blindly positive because "Whoa, Clowe is a Ranger now, he'll be great here," when the what have you done for me lately mentality is in effect.

What has Gaborik done lately? Not much.

What has Clowe done? Absolutely nothing.

Yet one is being heralded for his appearance here and the other is being bashed? Give me a break. At least be consistent.

I think this is actually a pretty good deal, overall.

Brassard has some offensive punch, isn't exactly old yet, and was a highly thought of draft pick. He could still benefit from a change of scenery, so we'll wait and see with him.

Dorsett will be a godsend. He'll do a good job of replacing Prust and become a fan favorite.

Moore looks really good. Love his stride. People will be very happy with his skating. Has some good offensive upside. Wish he was right handed. Overall, we get depth, move salary and, coupled with Clowe, kind of get a Dubi/Prust replacement from Clowe/Dorsett. Could work out well for us. The team, however, has really changed over the last 10 months. A lot.

Moore can still develop into a really good, two-way, middle pairing dman. Really wish he was RH. Brassard should be good for ~40+ points and still COULD be a guy who puts up 50+. Dorsett will be a fan favorite and provide something needed.

No, the best thing he got was a 2nd liner, a depth winger and a potential 2nd pairing defender...

I've never suggested Gaborik can't come back to form. I expect him to. Cap-wise, it wasn't going to work out. He had to be moved regardless. I like this return.

Agree 100%. In all honesty, we were among the weakest, and least physically intimidating teams in the league. Things have definitely changed with the recent moves.

Maybe too much though.

This is one of those situation where you have to wait and see. If the lieces fall into place, I have a feeling that I will really enjoy watching this team.

....Its scary how different this team is from two years ago. A team really liked, BTW

Yeah, we definitely need to wait and see, but right now these pieces we're getting fits the system better. We still have Nash who can score like no body's business, and a lot of other guys who can put up points. The Rangers were simply not getting it done this year and these moves might just get us back on track. I'm excited for seeing what these guys can bring to our team.

No. Brassard>6th round pick
Moore>6th round pick
Dorsett>6th round pick.

What is wrong with people here?

Give me a ****ing break. You go on and on about how Gabby has been off this year while claiming he will suck forever, but even though Clowe has zero goals this year, he's going to revert to his career average?

Holy hypocrite batman.

Where did I say Gaborik was going to suck forever? Please find the post. I will wait.

Thanks for playing.

so Brassard can play the wing too but is he going to be on a line with Nash ? He must of been in CLB

holy CLB are the Rangers of the west.......cant beleive they are in the east next yr that will be weird

So breaking it down

Nash for Gaborik
Brassard for Anisimov
Dorsett for Dubinsky
Moore for Erixon

Rangers get a 3rd( very liikely) and a 6th
CLB gets a 1st

No. Brassard>6th round pick
Moore>6th round pick
Dorsett>6th round pick.

What is wrong with people here?

So much. This is a good hockey trade. Expecting a stud piece back for Gaborik was stupid. Expecting one trade would bring in something that would "fix" this team was stupid. Dismissing this trade as one that doesn't help this team take a step in the right direction is stupid. This trade doesn't fix us or solve our issues. It addresses SOME issues, gives us some depth and is not a bad overall return. That is all.

Why would they?

Gaborik is older, having a down year coming off significant shoulder surgery, and has 1 more year left on his contract. Nash has more value. People are severely overrating Gaborik right now based on past production when he managed to stay healthy (a rarity for him).
