Or you haven't seen the CBJ PP... yes, ours is worse than yours. But you guys are worse G/G than we are (wow - I thought we were worst).

As someone on our board put it:
Nash for Gaborik
Brass for Anisimov
Dorsett for Dubinsky
Moore for Erixon
3rd and Delisle for 1st

(this was before Delisle and the other guy were coming back)

We saved a ton of cap room looking it that way.

Brassard has TWO less goals than Gaborik this year, fellas. And I'm sure than he has some use when he's not scoring. Plus, he's going to be playing with more talented wingers than he had in CLB.

LET. THIS. PLAY. OUT.

Well, Brassard will likely be playing on the third line. Depends how Torts shakes up the lineups. Might be playing with Clowe and Pyatt.

He said on NHL channel that "when somebody wants to trade you".. so he was asked to waive it.. who wanted to trade him is no secret.. I hope that this year will be the end of Torts experiments in NY city

This trade would indicate otherwise.

That is a big assumption. He did it just LAST YEAR. And two years before that.

Are you telling me, that you truly, genuinely believe Gaborik is done in the NHL? That he will forever be a 15-20 goal scorer and struggle putting up 35 points?

If you believe that I don't know what to say. Personally, I don't and that is why I think we got fleeced in this deal.

I wouldn't be shocked to see Gaborik start producing more THIS season with Columbus.

And again, you said "last year," last year he had shoulder surgery, give him time to recovery. True recovery time for his operation is 9 months to 1 year to recover 110%. Do you think he was really playing at 100% all season? No. If you did, you don't have a clue about the operation. I had the same exact surgery as him on my right shoulder. It's not "5 months and you can compete in the NHL at the top of your game night in and night out" operation.

When he gets back to 100%, he will be the best player in that deal, by a long shot.

And Nash is the best player in the deal we made for him.

You can't always be making trades like that. Depth is needed too.

WHAT?

For months, youve been throwing around these wild deals that put Gaborik's value MUCH higher.

And youre happy with this return?

Arent you an easy one to please...

I said a young NHl player, top prospect + 1st. How is Brassard not a young NHL player? Moore is not a top prospect (already a top-6 NHL d-man at 22) and Dorsett is the type of player teams pay A LOT for. The value is there.

Brassard 3.2 mill, RFA after next season.
Dorsett 1.63 mill, UFA after 2014-15
Moore 0.965 mill, RFA after next season.

Saving some cap. I'm starting to come over on this a little bit after the first shock. Saving some salary while adding a good center. Strong indication Richards will be bought out and Clowe will resign.

It could be worse.

Agreed.

But what do you think of my bolded part?

The only way anyone can think we won this deal is if they thought Gaborik was completely finished in his NHL career. IF he isn't, and even bounces back to be a 35 goal 65 point forward, we still got fleeced.

Dorsett was an untouchable under Howson... here is the new Prust, Rangers can ice a player that will give full effort every shift on every line once Dorsett gets back. He can skate.

I said the other day that I wish they got a consistent 20 goal scoring LW or C and a good prospect/pick id be fine with moving him. The way he was playing he was adding nothing to the system, and if Slats is committed to Torts then he wasnt going to be a good fit. We cant live with a pure scorer who gets as cold as he is. Things went sour, too many RWs. I

IF you can get 20 out of CLOWE, then he is the consistent scorer with a ton of, yes, Jam and it fits into the system better. Again, if the Rangers are committed to Torts, then these are ok moves.

Can we try to keep the Torts whining in the thread made for it? Can we have one thread that revolves around something aside from blaming the coach for every single problem that the team has? It's beyond stale.

Gaborik had the best years of his career playing for Torts. He looked awful almost all of this year in the same system with more talent around him than in the past. Maybe it's surgery recovery, maybe its an attitude thing, whatever it is, it's not the team system because again, and for the millionth time, he scored 40 goals twice in that system.

I think it's a great trade. All in all, we now have Clowe, Brassard, and Dorsett, while we lost Gaborik.

Hello depth. I like it. Re-sign Clowe and Brassard.

i get that people wanted a sexier trade for Gaborik, but let's face it, his 2g in the last 20 or so games didn't help his movability. He's as one dimensional a player as you can get. We don't needa 7.5$ luxury sniper who is off again and on again. Enough with these paper doll players who don't fit in with our system and are at odds with the coach.

We get a 2C, 3rd line energy player, and a smooth skating defenseman.... all young....

how can you not like this trade, for this rangers team right now? I loved Gaborik, but the writing was on the wall here. He doesn't fit, and right now, we're cast even stronger in the mold of the team we were last year...

I don't think we got optimum value cause it seems he HAD to be traded now. If he was traded in the summer I bet a bunch of teams with more cap room would have put in a bid. The more bids, the higher the return.

no doubt , Dorsett is going to be a great 3rd line RW

If you look at RW now they have Nash, Callahan, Dorsett, Asham
that looks good
