i actually really like the trade. i almost couldnt watch the scrubs we put on the 3rd dpair anymore and having a great skating puck moving dman will be very nice. brassard is a C we needed and should help us with puck possession time while allowing boyle to be 4th line C/PK/faceoff guy which is a rolle he can actually excel in. If dorset comes back for the end of season/playoffs and is a pain in the ass to play against then he will be very valuable.

The lowest scoring team in the league trades a 40 goal scorer. Sounds right. Less goals, more Jam!

I'd be surprised if he ever scored 40 again. I'd be surprised if he scored 30.

Unless he's nursing an injury we don't know about. His game has completely disintegrated.

Now if one of these "spare" parts turns into a McDonagh we'll be set.

It's a cap world and this team is better with fewer diva/superstars and more lunch pail players.

Don't mean it like that.

1. You could tell there was disagreement between the two

2. Part of the problem was/is that this team was not built for the system Tortorella plays. This move ( and Clowe) make us more of a tortorella team

And I can't wait until Tortorella has a disagreement with Lundqvist, the face of the franchise and player that carries all that dead weight.

When Lundqvist wants Tortorella gone, and I suspect he will if the team plunges into mediocrity, he'll be gone. Some players are bigger than the team.

We saw what happened when Ovechkin and Boudreau didn't see eye to eye. The star marquee player who is the face of the franchise will usually win the battle.

I wonder if Gaborik resists the urge to badmouth Torts at some point.

Its amazing how Richards and Gaborik forced them to blow up what seemed like a pretty good roster. All in like two weeks!

you mean the shoulder surgery he had in the off season? :shakehead

Guess they didnt scout much..

Or you haven't seen the CBJ PP... yes, ours is worse than yours. But you guys are worse G/G than we are (wow - I thought we were worst).

As someone on our board put it:
Nash for Gaborik
Brass for Anisimov
Dorsett for Dubinsky
Moore for Erixon
3rd and Delisle for 1st

(this was before Delisle and the other guy were coming back)

My point is I know it was time to cut ties with Gaborik. I accepted that already. But the return we got actually made me physically ill.

What were you expecting? His value was pretty low from the season he is having. He is starting to age, his cap hit is high. Did you really think we would get a elite prospect back? We got Moore, which is a pretty damn good prospect himself.

Yes, because as we all know, there is a linear relationship there. And we also know Clowe, Brassard, Moore and Dorsett do not score goals ever.

Are you really going to argue that we are in a position to trade proven goal scorers without bringing goals back? Linear relatonship? Did say that? Dopey retort.

Its a move that needed to be done. We clear cap space, acquired a RHD, filled the bottom lines, Boyle gets bumped to 4C, and were more difficult to play against. Yes, we gave up the best play in the trade, but we are a better team i think because of it

Wonder how badly Gaborik wanted out from NY for him to waive his NTC to Columbus.

He said on NHL channel that "when somebody wants to trade you".. so he was asked to waive it.. who wanted to trade him is no secret.. I hope that this year will be the end of Torts experiments in NY city
