Given the NHL team's struggles, is it best for him to stay with the Baracuda and develop chemistry with potential future teammates like Mukhamadullin, Bystedt and Halttunen or would he help solve the Sharks' problems?

And if he is promoted, which former Devil is demoted/released?

There is no need to rush him in the NHL this season. As mentioned, Sharks' defence is ass and Askarov is no savior to the team. I'm sure he'll get his starts here and there in the NHL and is the first call up if one of Blackwood or Vanecek get injured.

Blackwood has been worse so far, but it's only been two games.

On one hand, I don't want to expose Askarov to the Sharks' defense. On the other... if he keeps playing like this with the Cuda, it's hard to justifying not promoting him. He's been so good.

I am hoping for vanecek to the AVS so askarov can get called up. Or Blackwood to AVS.

Oilers probobly did but did not have the assets the Preds wanted. This trade happened shortly after we lost Broberg and Halloway to the Blues. I think if the Oilers knew ahead of time what was coming, they would have traded both for him--but hindsight is a lovely thing. And of course the Oiler management is in love with Skinner at the NHL level and Oliver in the AHL. Why? You have me at a loss for words there

It's not like we didn't know his potential, him and his agent didn't want to wait around to be Saros' back up and outplay him. It's funny he could have played in game one over wedegwood had he been patient.

Sure it’s not an Erat for Forsberg situation or something but Trotz bet heavily that the Predators time is now and that Askarov, representing the future, didn’t really have a place in it.

There was a plan for Askarov, we brought back Mitch Korn, the age gap between Askarov and Saros was large enough that Askarov could come in as a back up and then 1a/1b, etc, it sucks that he couldn't see or didn't want to be a part of those plans.

Although Trotz isn't without fault, apparently he didn't like his showy play and celebrations, which is what makes him such a great player. Go figure.

Yeah, this "we had a plan for Askarov" is strictly bullshit from the Preds organization. Unless the plan was to make Juuse Saros a $9M backup in a year or two, there was no plan.
