There is no need to rush him in the NHL this season. As mentioned, Sharks' defence is ass and Askarov is no savior to the team. I'm sure he'll get his starts here and there in the NHL and is the first call up if one of Blackwood or Vanecek get injured.
Blackwood has been worse so far, but it's only been two games.
I am hoping for vanecek to the AVS so askarov can get called up. Or Blackwood to AVS.
It's not like we didn't know his potential, him and his agent didn't want to wait around to be Saros' back up and outplay him. It's funny he could have played in game one over wedegwood had he been patient.
There was a plan for Askarov, we brought back Mitch Korn, the age gap between Askarov and Saros was large enough that Askarov could come in as a back up and then 1a/1b, etc, it sucks that he couldn't see or didn't want to be a part of those plans.
I think Saros being under contract for the next 9 years means Askarov and his representation sees things fine.
Yeah, this "we had a plan for Askarov" is strictly bullshit from the Preds organization. Unless the plan was to make Juuse Saros a $9M backup in a year or two, there was no plan.
There was no path to Askarov becoming a starting NHL goaltender within two years in Nashville. There is no world in which a $9M goaltender loses his starting role unless he's really bad. If he's really bad, then absolutely no one is touching his contract, so Nashville is stuck with him.
Had the audacity to give up 2 goals last night. I hope he’s happy with himself.
Because we have two goalies on NHL contracts and we don't need to be pulling out all the stops to win games.

You gotta read the thread, man. This has been covered many times. He wasn't worried about being in the AHL in the short term, he wanted a path to being an NHL starter. He has that now and immediately after the trade said that he would be fine in the AHL.
Critical thinking would suggest that being behind two goalies with contracts expiring end of year is highly favourable to being behind star goalie with 9 years until contract runs out.
Our team is shit and we don't want to throw him to the wolves when we have two capable NHL goalies. Expectation is that one is moved this year and Askarov takes their place. Let him dominate the AHL without being "too exposed" to the Sharks, but integrate him slowly and be at least backup by next year.
