Look at the ownership group, and the fact that they are more obsessed with personalities and hype than any tangible fit. FSG came in and drank the kool aid on Sullivan from the first day, even though he was already years past his sell by date, they had no ideas beyond going with a musty status quo.

Dubas is more of the same. They see someone touted as a “whiz kid”, and think “yeah, that’s what we need, a young guy with fresh ideas, not like these stodgy old men we just fired!” I’m almost certain there was little thought as to how it works with the current roster or where the team is in the cycle, they just saw a name and set out to get him.
