I bet you thought the Seider pick was garbage too at the time. Piss off Yzerman knows what he is doing.
I liked Seider. He was 13 on my board.

And I liked Berggren and Raymond a lot too.

But Yzerman dropped the ball tonight.

The Red Wings make picks, not Yzerman.

Huge swings for us. Neither are my preferred picks but both were picked in the right range.

yup Cossa is so damn impressive and I would've considered him top 5 along with Wallstedt, can't go wrong with either imo. Also not a fan of this years skaters but still haha

Ya I have never seen Wallstedt play but I always said that if he's ranked higher than Cossa, then he must be unbelievable.. cause Cossa is so damn good.

Obviously there is something that must be rubbing teams the wrong way with Wallstedt... I know one poster said previously that he has had some serious injury problems.. so maybe that??

No idea on his medicals. But, goalies and lower-body injuries scare teams to death, especially without an in-depth combine/in-person visits.

I am disappointed in this pick. The scouting reports on Cossa and Edvinsson and the game video I've watched on them both had concerning flaws.

Really hoping I'm wrong but Yzerman picked the two guys I had pegged as being the biggest bust risks in the top-30.

For a team that isn’t that great at the goalie position, I wouldn’t quibble about a few spots too high. If you think he’s going to be a starting goalie, you pick him at 15.

As long as it’s not Carey Price, because that would go against your agenda with Lundqvist.

Every player that you’ll draft will have concerning flaws. How is Beniers going to create offense consistently? Will Eklund be able to play bigger than his size effectively? Is Guenther anything more than a shooter? Will Hughes ever learn what defense is? Does Wallstedt have more development left? Will Johnson’s high skill/risk style of offense translate? And so on.

There are concerns on so many players that you can convince yourself that any pick might be a questionable one. Don’t fall into that trap

Personally myself I liked Wellstedt more than Cossa....both are excellent goalies and though I think Yzerman did excellent taking Cossa and getting a very good goalie for the future, I think Wellstedt is going to be in the top 5 of the league.

Oh my goodness. I'm only reading this today. I'm sorry, my friend.

It was a joke about Nedeljkovic being short and Cossa being tall. Personally I liked Wallstedt as the better goalie. Yall ever seen Twins?

I'm still hoping that the Wings can sign Hamilton just to rub salt to the wound.

Just as Buffalo is rubbing salt in Carolina's wounds with Skinner. And St. Louis with Faulk. Oh, no, please stop it hurts too bad not having these overpaid secondary roster pieces.

If Carolina is letting an UFA walk then buyer beware. The history is ugly.
