G Sebastian Cossa (2021, 15th, DET)

Has faced 189 shots, has saved 179 of them, .950 sv% with a 1.43 gaa.
- 7 x 5 on 5 goals against (7 in 7 games = 1.00 gaa)
- 3 x pp goals against

Would be great to know his 5 on 5 sv% and not just his gaa.
but that WHL.ca's shot stat count isn't working, they have it there
for each game,..but its not working.

Seems perfect for Colorado. Grubauer is excelling behind Colorado's defense and is a goalie who relies on positioning and cutting angles down to make saves, and that style is also true for Cossa who also has the height advantage.

I'd love if Colorado could take him in the late 1st, but problem is that Toronto, Edmonton, Carolina, and Vegas could be picking just ahead of them and would likely all be interested in him. Assuming that Colorado make it to at least the conference finals and pick 29-32 I wouldn't mind if they did what Dallas did in 2017 and trade a 3rd round pick to move up a few picks in the 1st (in Dallas' case 29th to 26th) to grab Cossa. Avs can afford to be patient with him, but having him join the team 3-5 years down the line when Grubauer winds down would be a perfect succession plan.

I watched Jacob Markstrom tend my team's crease for several years, the likes of Anders Nilsson, Eddie Lack, etc.
Exceptionally tall goaltenders.

I don't recall any of them looking as glaringly massive as this guy. Maybe it's just because he's playing with teenagers...
But he is what, 6'6.5 and already 212lbs?
Just a giant dude with huge equipment to go along with a great skillset.

This is what scouts envision when they dream up a "goalie with size".
However, few have the full package like Cossa.

Was listening to Hockey prospect radio on satellite radio this morning. The goaltender specialist they had on expects Cossa to be a top 10 pick and Wallstedt to go top 15.

There seems to be quite a gap between Cossa/Wallstadt and the next goalie cluster (Lennox? Gaudreau? Hamrla? Some Russian?). I imagine whichever of Cossa or Wallstadt gets picked first, the other will follow shortly because a team with the need and draft capital to take that chance will want to ensure one of two real blue chippers.

Add another SO to his record with a 30 save win. It's impressive how calm he is in the crease even when it's a scramble play in front of him. Finds the puck quickly through legs and even on his pads takes up most of the net so hard for guys to find open net unless they make him move laterally. Even then with his wide wingspan can get over fast. Also is very consistent game to game which is very hard to find in young goalies

I love the total package this kid has. Huge frame but is very athletic and seems to be very smooth and calm in the crease. I hope the Devils some how trade up the Islanders 1st rounder to be able to snag him. I like his game more so that Wallstedt.
