indefinitely means what it means...
Definition: for an unlimited or unknown amount of time:

Does indefinitely mean forever?

If a situation will continue indefinitely, it will continue forever or until someone decides to change it or end it.

In the light of recent Murray heath disclosures, the buyout has been prevented, and due to his health his return is unknown, as a result been postponed indefinitely by Leafs management uncertain of his return. Indefinitely last as long as the current situation remains unresolved or Murray changes his position.

Wish the best for the health of the player especially relating to quality of life, but this is great for the leafs and their cap management.

Woll has been right under our nose and Dubas ignored him. For years

Murray was LTIR *before* he became a Leaf

Dubas signed his other two contracts too.

You love to see it.

Ottawa still paying more of Murray's cap than the Leafs

Does Ottawa have anything interesting they could offer to swindle us into buying him out? Might be some kind of option to do after the 10 game minimum for LTIR expires.

The Leafs have no window to buy him out anymore.

Brodie feels like the best bang for buck deletion at this point.

The ultimate plot twist is he comes back Game 1 of the 2023-24 playoffs and goes Sergei Bobrovsky hot en route to the Leafs Stanley Cup win, and they put Dubas on Legends Row.

For the $2 million plus dead cap the Leafs would incur in a Murray buyout in 2025, best believe that package from Ottawa would have to be significant.

If we were the Godless Habs this would happen….

Wouldnt it be great though?

if you knew what it meant, it leaves open the possibility of him coming back mid year even though unlikely

It also means that we don't know. If there was a timeline, they would have said a timeline. If there was a timeline, there would be a possibility. When these things happen, they happen for the season.

It means we don't know. So asking when is he back is like asking something that can't be answered. Indefinitely means what it means. If they had a timeline they would give one.

When these LTIR things happen, it's for the season though. He's done.

Lmao.

I'm going to need you to explain your work here.

Get well soon, Matt….right around mid-season would be perfect!
Absolutely love when fans of other teams forget their lurking the Leafs board.

We got a 3rd, a 7th, top-10 goaltending last year, and no cap concerns moving forward. Oh no, what a bad situation. How ever will we survive.:eyeroll:
The funniest part is that most goalie acquisitions that we could have done instead last year would have put us in a worse situation right now.
Or maybe we could of got a goalie that was worth a crap and went further in the playoffs but no Dubas takes a two year gamble on a chump that everyone that watches hockey knew it would end up like it did.

How much is the bad situation worth? 3rd + 7th? Do you take him on for a few 1sts?

There is always a price.

It's funny seeing people get upset for one of Dubas' worst moves being turned into a good one.

Turns out the risk was very small for Murray.
It wasn’t a good move. We wasted another year on a scrap heap goalie instead of getting better

The trade for Murray never made sense to begin with. They either needed to get more retention or more assets back for it to be worth it.

Thankfully this LTIR move allows them to get out of the cap hit unscathed. Matt seems like a nice guy and has fallen on some hard luck with injuries. I hope he is able to recover and maybe even get another contract at some point after this season.

The silver lining here for me (other than the cap space) is watching the Sens fans on here and Twitter absolutely shit a brick. They went from making jokes about Murray will NEVER be healthy to not understanding how he could possibly be injured. Smooth brains.

I call that an "added bonus". Sens fans were desperately hoping for a buyout. Funny how that works.
