Only preseason, I know, but I came away very impressed with Wallstedt's game last night. Looks very poised between the pipes. I'm thinking one full season in the AHL and he should be ready to come in next season and at least split the net 50/50 with MAF.

As a Wild fan, I couldn't be happier that Edmonton decided to pass and allowed JW to fall into our laps.

He looked solid vs Dallas, though take that for what you will with the Stars lineup and the way they played, lol.

At the very least he looked very calm and poised, which is usually a good sign for the young guys. I don't want him to have too much success with a team in the same division, so hopefully he gets traded so I can enjoy watching him play. ;)

How has he been lately?
Very good. Better than his stats suggest. His team takes a lot of penalties, so he tends to get a lot of tough shots. He's still only 19, so he could always get stronger, but he moves well, doesn't give out a lot of rebounds, and more than anything, seems very composed. I am noticing that he is getting better at coming out of the net to cut off angles and dealing with players who are in his way. Let in a couple of long, bad angle shots early on, and it was suggested that he still had to adjust from the euro game, as those shots aren't as much of a threat there

Thanks for the update. Hope he becomes a #1 goalie.

Wallstedt is looking good, but Grand Rapids were pretty bad, also.

The young rookie Dmen, O’Rourke and Hunt, are also improving, and playing a more solid game, which helps Wallstedt also.

I still can't believe my Oil didn't draft him.lol I get the standard comeback is he won't be in the NHL till he's 57 or whatever they think but Askaraov already has an NHL game in I could see Jesper having his first NHL game before Xavier B has his.

As far as real NHL impact. I'm willing to bet that Jesper is an NHL backup at the same time Xavier B is a 40 point rookie. Long term - it will be hard to convince me then Jesper doesn't end up the more impactful NHL player as a starting goalie vs a complimentary winger.

I could obviously be wrong and maybe Xavier gets the call this week and is a .ppg NHL player and Jesper never gets the call. Time will tell. I think the Wild won this one!

I don't see Bourgault as an NHL impact player, I saw from the years I've followed Wallstedt he'll be at minimum a starter in the NHL. It was moronic the moment Holland made that trade.

Thank you.. I totally forget to mention the German D. Munzenberger? If he pans out and becomes an NHL player with Xavier B then it won't be as bad! I keep forgetting that part of it.

Curious if all 3 go on to NHL success!

Munz is a solid dman. He has a similar trajectory as Guys like Niemo and Lagesson

They have a 23 year old Skinner who is already a 1B goalie at worst. They're fine.

Wallstedt looks to be a stud though. Good for the Wild
