YEs, Florida would get the main credit here since it's much more difficult to scout amateurs. But NHL scouts have been high on him much longer than internet/HF Boards scouts. His stock had been skyrocketing leading up to the trade.
He showed out for Canada in the WJC and then missed the rest of the season. His stock absolutely rose after the WJC, but very few people were calling him an elite goalie prospect. This was a great job by Luongo for banging the table to take Levi, and then premium timing for Buffalo because Levi was expendable due to Spencer Knight. Overall this is a trade where everyone is going to win. Panthers got a 1st line caliber winger who can also play center and the Sabres got someone who can be their goalie of the future plust a 1st.

Who do Buffalo fans value more? UPL or Levi?

Probably Levi, the numbers are impossible to ignore but these days you won’t find many Sabres fans with belief in any prospect, let alone a goalie until they see it at the pro level.

Back at the start of the season, I had Portillo above both. At the moment, probably Levi, then with how Luukkonen played in his recall and recent games (he had a 54-save, 2-1 OT win this weekend himself), it's still close.

And that's nothing against Portillo, who is the glue that keeps Michigan's collection of really good players who don't seem to play like a team in games.

Levi seems like a first guy on and last guy off the ice type mentality.
Happy to see 6'0 goalies still have some shine and possibility of becoming a NHL goalie.

Would assume he will sign the end of this school year?
Or will he prefer an extra year in school since he missed most of this year?

He has nothing more to prove in college, my bet is that he will turn pro at the end of the season, maybe even get some NHL games to close out the Sabres season.
