he's been a bit inconsistent this year, needs to get his save % up, though Laval doesn't usually give up a lot of shots.

good game from Primeau last night, in his last 3 starts he's 3-0, given up 6 goals on 76 shots.

Primeau may be the best (or luckiest) pick the Habs have ever made. He's been every bit as good (or better than) first round picks Jake Oettinger and Spencer Knight who came out of US college system recently.

Primeau's given up 6 goals in the last 5 games. He's now on a 7 game win streak,

7-0, 11 goals against on 161 shots if my math is correct.

How long are they going to let this guy marinate though or will he be a trade chip? Price is locked up for eternity and Allen got what a 3 year deal? Could be 2 I'm not going to look, just seems like the new CP31 has hit a road block to the next level.

Allen has a good chance of being plucked by Seattle in the expansion draft, so that would leave a spot for him.

They said they want to develop primeau slowly. And want him to play a couple more years in laval.

He is likely to play at least one more season in Laval, maybe even 2. If Seattle doesn't pick Allen in the expansion draft, Montreal is set with goaltenders for a few years. Nothing wrong with Primeau trying to backstop Laval to a championship. He is still very young

Now if Allen gets picked by Seattle, Bergevin will surely try to sign a UFA goalie to a 1-year deal. If that UFA goalie sucks (see Montreal's luck with backups recently; Kinkaid, Budaj, Scrivens, Lindgren, etc), then Primeau could come up as soon as next year and get some games.

Jake Oettinger is splitting starts in Minnesota and doing well. Jake is from the same draft, taken one spot after Poehling in the first round. But Primeau was better at each level since their draft year, and is nearly a year younger.

First of all its Dallas and second thats because the normal starting goalie is out for most of the year. Stars had enough confidence that Oettinger could handle backup duty so they never signed a veteran insurance policy. Stars coaching staff also already knew Oettinger very well because he was with the team for months in the bubble in Edmonton.

How well does the Habs coaching staff know Primeau and how much confidence does the Habs front office have in him ? Would he be the backup if Price/Allen went down ?

Isn't Dallas in Minnesota? I'm from Canada:) Anyway. Oettinger seems to be putting up better numbers there than the vet. I think Primeau could do the same same in Montreal. Carey Price is just showing up to collect his multi millions these days, he isn't an asset at all. Seattle isn't that far from his home town, maybe he'll play out the string there.

With that contract and his declining play Price is going nowhere. Unless Habs buy him out or he retires he will play out the contract in Montreal. Nobody wants a 10.5 million goalie who is playing worse than most guys signed for half that.

Everyone thought Fleury would be an anchor when Vegas took him in their inaugural season. Seattle would look at that. Price is about the same age now as Fleury was then , I believe.

Price is signficantly more expensive ( contract Vegas picked up was $5.75 million a season and not $10.5 ) and the contract runs much longer than Fleurys when Vegas took him. I think it was 2 more seasons of Fleury . After this year is over its 5 more years of Price.

Thats just a bad idea for an expansion franchise .

It's hard to know what the plan will be. I suspect that Price will be the starter next year, Primeau the starter in Laval. If things go well enough again for Primeau then maybe they look to have him backup Price the next year, then maybe have him take over and Price back up Primeau or 50/50 split or something to that degree. Price would be a great mentor for Primeau although he's said he doesn't want that so if he wanted out then, the Habs could pay his signing bonus leaving him being owed 13M over his final 3 seasons. The Habs would likely need to eat a lot of his cap, 3-4M I suspect and throw in something of value but again it's very hard to say since we need to see how Price is doing, how Primeau does in the NHL over more then 2 games.

Price will be LTIR in 3 years, he's not finishing thay contracr with his body declining that much (as per his ex goalie coach)
