Might happen but that can't be the "plan" .

Weber and Price will be off the books in 3 years. Weber retired, Price on LTIR, they will both fail physicals, or develop some weird problems like Hossa, Seabrook, Gaborik and so on... easy

Price is not that old . He might hang around for the full length of his deal.

Weber i agree . He won't play out his deal but Price very much could.

I think either of those players would be of interest to Seattle. They're both West Coast guys from a couple hours north of Seattle, and they would add enormous credibility to a fledgling franchise, both in the dressing room and in the community. Vegas is a template of how quickly a new team can become relevant and grow a fan base. The example they set will certainly not be lost on the ownership of the Kraken.

Montreal would have to pay the Kraken big to take on those contracts. If it was 2-3 year deals ? Sure why not but its 5 and there's no guarantee if and when they go on LTIR . There's other vets guys the Kraken should look at . Taking them off the Habs hands would be massive favor.

I certainly wouldn't expect the Kraken to be interested in Jamie Benn either west coast or not .

Would those players even waive their NMC's ? I doubt it.

Ok thanks, he seems like a good one.

Scenario 1: Allen picked
21-22 Either Primeau gets the call (not my choice) or they get a 1-2 year backup plug
22/23-26 Primeau gets increasing workload over Price.
2026 Price contract end, Primeau becomes bona fide starter.

Scenario 2: Allen not picked (very possible due to Vancouver/Dallas exposing Holtby/Khudobin)
21-22 Allen backup
Allen traded between Summer 2022 and 2023 TDL or let go in 2023.

My reasoning is that due to Covid, he has never experienced a full starter load of 41+ games (although you can argue this year is a good substitute with the condensed schedule), nor as he been dominant for a whole season (he's had stretches of dominance). Another year in the AHL would help him work on being consistent with a heavy workload because that's not going to happen for a few years at the AHL level.

Primeau will still be RFA when Price's contract end AFAIK.

He's young enough sure, but his ex goalie coach went live saying his body has already sufferes so much that he can't maintain his level of play formore than 50game a year.

Now, atine 3 yearfrom now. Price will go LTIR at age 36, cash in his contract, but like Hossa and all, he'll help his gm

Hossa was a 3 time Cup Champion when he went on LTIR . Price at this point in his career hasn't been to a SCF . I don't think Price lets himself LTIR so easily before he had more success with his teams.

In 3 years, he'll be a back up. Bergevin will tell him
1- you retire
2- you go LTIR
3- we're outting you on the bench for the whole year, and the whole team hates you because you're not helping in any way

You chose

Is Bergevin even still around in 3 years if the team doesn't have moderate playoff success anytime soon ?

They're both billionaires already, I bet they'd jump at the chance to be closer to their families at this point. Also they may look forward to a new challenge, and their post playing days opportunities in Seattle would be far greater than with Montreal. NHL is an entertainment industry, and the off ice portion is as important as the on ice these days. Look what Tom Brady did for the Buccaneers before he even stepped on the field. Just by signing with them he turned a forgotten franchise into the talk of the NFL.

Both have been living away from the west coast pretty much their whole careers . I'm not sure they consider BC really "home" anymore . Not to mention neither has had much club success yet so i don't know they'd go to an expansion franchise . Pretty sure players in their mid thirties who haven't won one yet main goal is to win a Cup before their careers end. Not so sure Seattle is the right destination for that. I don't think their roster will be as good as Vegas was.

Both of them are on a plane to BC the day their season ends, and don't return to Montreal until they absolutely have to. Believe me.

very interested to see what kind of season he has this year, needs to be better at the NHL level.

Primeau lookin' good. Hope he can improve much faster, so that he can replace Price to become Montreal's No. 1 netminder.

I would like to believe that, but it's not really what we have seen this season.

His confidence is shot now because of his NHL stint when the team was a tire fire and bleeding goals left and right.

He looks better in the AHL, but still gives shaky goals pretty much every game. I hope he can bounce back next season. Otherwise we have to start looking further down the pipeline, maybe to Dobes, in hopes of a future starting goalie.
