Should they? He hasn't won a single Cup for them. Not his fault but every player Habs retired numbers for were part of championship teams.

Yeah.
He was still the best player by far on the team and the best goalie of his generation... The fact that he didn't won the Cup is most def not on his shoulders

It may not be retired, but #19 will probably be taken out of circulation by the Oilers after the damage Mikko Koskinen has done to it.

Just like most things nowadays, retiring jerseys is a fad. Used to be it took a lot for a team to do it. Now it’s a marketing angle.

6 - No. He's been here for a long time, but that shouldn't be enough to get his number retired.
8 - All signs and projections point to yes.
29 - Yes, as he's been the face of the franchise for years and finally has some hardware to go with it.
92 - Most likely. He's a long serving captain who has won a Cup. He's not the face, but it's his team for sure.
96 - Very fringe. He's a good player but he's in MacKinnon's shadow (for good reason).

That being said we have 77 up in the rafters, so I wouldn't be surprised to see Cogliano's number up there one day.

30 & 96 for the red wings & maybe 35 for the red wings I mean if not retired at least honor it, & 16 for the red wings. & 2 & 25 for the flames, 89 for the Sabres, 20, 25 & 10 for the stars, one was in Dallas for 6 years won a conn smythe, one was for one of the best goalies in his five years in Dallas, 10 cuz he was a captain and a big defensive player, 25 for Tampa bay yeah he was only their 4 years but was captain when they won their cup, 18 & either 28 or 11 for New Jersey, 16 for the Islanders palffy was the best player for the isles in the late 90s in that 5 year span if not 16 for palffy than 16 for lafontaine, 31 for St. Louis, but not for fuhr for CuJo, 35 & 94 for Edmonton for moog & smyth. 7, 97, & 27 for Arizona they’ve been honored but not retired, 63 for the hurricanes to honor the memory of Josef vasicek, 31 & 35 by the ducks, 37 & 12 for the capitals, 38 for St Louis to honor demitra, 10 for the wild, 91 for the red wings, 11 & 18 for the San Jose sharks, 19 will be up their eventually, 27, 34, 44, & 12 for the panthers for Mellnby, beezer, niedermayer, & jokinen, 83 for Edmonton, if 44 doesn’t get retired by Florida I don’t see why Anaheim couldn’t do it he was a big part in their cup win scoring 5 goals 5 assists 10 points and had 2 goals in the finals. 39 for St. Louis for weight, 7 for St. Louis again for Mullen, 7 for Calgary for Mullen, 12 for the Islanders for Brent sutter, 7, 24 & 10 for the hawks for chelios, Wilson & sharp, & 10 & 8 for the flyers for recchi & leclair. As well as 21, 22 & 24 for the Habs for carbonneau, shutt, & chelios.

It was a foregone conclusion 33 was going to be retired by Boston.

Be nice if the Illitch's put water under the bridge and retired #91.

I agree most of us fans believe he was a great player and even though he only spent 13 years here he deserves it, but than you’d have to argue for 96 & 30 for Homer and osgood.

No. One of them is a HOFer and pillar of 3 cup winning teams and the other two are not. Homer and Osgood, while solid pieces don't come anywhere near the importance of Fedorov. The Grind Line arguably has a stronger case than those two and they aren't going up either. Those 5 would be in a Honor something or other, but not # retirement.

I don't see what recognizing Sergei Fedorov has to do with Holmstrom and Osgood. Fedorov was one of the faces of the league in the 90s, a key contributor on all 3 Cup wins, 1000+ points, and a Hall of Famer.

I hope this is a joke.

Imagine Holmstrom and Howard having their jerseys next to Yzerman, Howe, Sawchuk, etc.
