Cheap, reliable, hits like a truck and playing on the top pairing with Hughes.
His value will never be higher and the team is going nowhere but I wouldn’t trade him unless it’s an overpay.
I mean it’s essentially like hiring a Walmart greeter salary guy who ends up running the sports and outdoors department.
Attention Walmart shoppers! Luke Schenn available on aisle 2!

Friedman and Marek on the Marek show:

Friedman hints and speculates that Rutherford is getting alot of calls on Schenn

Also some paraprhasing quotes

Friedman- "The way Schenn plays is treasured and marveled by every team in the NHL."

Marek " every team trying to win a Stanley Cup will want this guy"

It seems Schenn's value is at an all time high.... should the Canucks trade him now whether they are in a playoff hunt or not?

Auction would probably start at 2nd round pick.
and by TDL he will be future considerations lol

This strategy works when teams want a player like Pettersson, Horvat or JT Miller

No GM is looking at Schenn saying "there is the piece we need" no matter how hard the Canucks try to paint that picture.

hughes doesn't look bad next to a pylon either. myers is not going to make hughes better or discourage teams from keying on hughes physically.

i mean the team is such a mess it might happen, but schenn is very low on the list of guys the canucks should be trading.
As I said, he has actually looked fine when paired with Hughes(for some reason), Myers is a bigger guy and can be physical, no he can't fight.

Soooo Friedman and Marek are part of the Canucks now?

Please to god tell me this is sarcasm

I know, I know, I couldn't believe it when I heard it either, again (somehow) this is true.

A great 5/6 who can fill in top 4 physical rhd with almost a league min contract with cup experience? Every contender in the league should be looking to add this guy. Not saying he will get a 1st but he has value to teams easily.

"A lot" and a "a lot of calls" are not necessarily the same thing. So, it could be how you are "paraphrasing" this. And "paraphrasing" is not the same as "quotes" either.

I take it this was a TV or radio show, and I didn't catch the show, so maybe others can chime in with what was actually said?

So these terms can't be used on a spectrum? They are that specific?
It was a ridiculous exaggeration by the 32 Thoughts team. It's a shameless attempt to generate traffic and chatter as we march toward the trade deadline. It's like giving trophies to someone who finished 5th. Fifth is a nice accomplishment, but let's not pretend it's a win. The. End.

I love the coordinated efforts by the Canadian media to pump-and-dump mediocre scrub players on sinking Canadian franchises to drive up their trade value.

well you can scoff all you like at the media hype and trade value stuff, but schenn is no scrub. i have honestly "marvelled" at how well he has played in a year the rest of the team is a trainwreck. the way the canucks are playing he should be badly exposed.

On pace for 25 points and a plus 8 while being one of the best physical players down low in the entire league.

I'd take Schenn on Edmonton's terribly inexperienced D-core any day of the week.

But if he's so "treasured and marveled" and "every contender would want him", then why was he essentially the 7th D for Tampa Bay, playing 8 and 11 games during their playoff runs? Was he injured?

Even then, why did he only play 9 and 10 mins a night when he was healthy! That's an exceptionally low time-on-ice for a guy you trust.

Even in Vancouver he's only playing 17mins a night. So I dunno... is this still a guy you can rely on in transition, or is he more likely to get PK action and spot own-zone duty when trying to get the puck and get it out.

Any playoff team would at the very least covet him as a insurance piece if injuries happen . On lesser teams , he would be a very good 5/6

Tell me you don't understand depth assets without saying it.

Then remember Chiarot.

i treasure and marvel at the guys who give ridiculous exagerrated "end of discussion" takes from 4 timezones away about players on teams they never watch.

To save you time later, it would take less energy for you to just type that you haven’t watch Schenn play in the past 2 seasons and you really have no idea what you’re talking about.

Treasured and marveled?
Haha, yea that might be a little much

Like....Luke Schenn?

Cool to hear he is still going actually. Always was a fan.

Well yeah, that's where I am with this. Haven't watched him and had no idea he was still....wait....somehow became desirable in his later career. Very interesting.

Careful that word is specifically reserved for superstars.
