Friedman: Friedman and Marek - 'If the Canucks decide to move Schenn they will receive a lot'

I'd keep him if I were Van... He's been awesome and is a cheap option to keep around a few more years

Canucks would have nobody to answer the bell if he gets moved and management knows this. I said it in the Schenn to Oilers topic, he will require a massive overpay to move. Deserves an A on his jersey and he’s our second best Dman

Myers
Stillman
Burroughs
Joshua

All those guys can easily answer the bell

Treasured and marveled and Schenn don't belong in the same sentence. I'm not knocking the player. He's useful and doesn't a lot of the dirty work, but those verbs are a massive reach.

How so?

Schenn will retire as a Canuck and I have no problem with that. Unless it's a first round draft pick, he's too valuable to this core.

Not true at all, you don't speak for anyone but yourself on this one. If we get offered a 2nd we take it and run.

once again, you guys are under the impression that Canucksa are about on the verge of blowing up by pressing a kill switch. The media is painting that picture to you just like how they convinced everyone and their mother that Miller is on the verge of being traded.

The only moves you're going to see is Pearson/Myers traded, and quite possibly Garland for the sole purpose to get a top pairing defenceman. Schenn is valuable to the core, not saying he is part of the core, but he's a leader for one of the youngest teams in the NHL and is someone you can rely on. You don't trade a 2 time stanley cup winner, leader in all time hits for defenceman, that plays sound defensive hockey unless the deal is ridiculous as a first round draft pick.

you know that Schenn is an upcoming free agent and can sign anywhere in July right?

There's no gurantee that he wants to be a leader and mentor for a young team going through growing pains.

Rutherford has said so before, the Canucks are not in a position to let anyone walk away into free agency.

Canucks may very well be forced to trade him.

We'd be stupid not to take a 2nd in 2023 for Schenn.

It's not hard to see why teams would be interested in Schenn. He is a throwback who can play a physical game and he's shown he can be a cover for a mobile offensive partner in how he played opposite Quinn. That has value, surely. If Vancouver is finally deciding to retool, Schenn is someone who can help them restock.

The fact that you think Garland gets a top pairing Dman says all we need to know about your valuation of players.

Blowing it up is not a media invention either, it's what every logical canucks fan who is sick of this team being a f***ing laughing stock want.
Move him right up to #1 on TSN’s tradebait board

1) Luke Schenn
2) who cares

You obviously do, I mean you even made a point of posting in the thread.

i don't think they risk hughes' play being affected by moving schenn. this is a complimentary pairing that makes both schenn and hughes better. it also protects hughes, which is critical.

but by the tdl who knows.

Hughes (for some reason) hasn't looked bad next to Myers either, if they traded Schenn they could put those two together.

Schenn is right now playing better than Chariot last season. Most people were adamant that Chariot would never return a 1st. Guess what happened?

That being said, 1st is worth more this year in a deep draft, but you only need 1 desperate GM.

Because they're terms that should be reserved for premier players.

So these terms can't be used on a spectrum? They are that specific?

Myers has double digit career fights. He isnt an enforcorer but he can be counted on to answer the bell which is what the poster was saying the Canucks wouldnt have any player to do so.

Fair enough though when we signed him, he specifically said he isn't here to fight, I've seen him fight, he doesn't do it well.

As a Canuck fan Id rather take a 1st for 2024 with no protection and hope that miraclulosly become a top 12 pick in 2024.

Right now the teams willing to trade for Schenn are probably the elite of elite and that 1st round pick would probably be 26th and up.

gamble gamble! go for 2024

hughes doesn't look bad next to a pylon either. myers is not going to make hughes better or discourage teams from keying on hughes physically.

i mean the team is such a mess it might happen, but schenn is very low on the list of guys the canucks should be trading.
