Schenn will retire as a Canuck and I have no problem with that. Unless it's a first round draft pick, he's too valuable to this core.
Lol. If they're considering Schenn a part of the core, they've already lost.

The team is a trash heap with or without him. Take the 2nd round pick.

Canadian media found their new Chariot to overhype.

What a joke
I mean...it's not really a joke. Chiarot wasn't good, but still returned a 1st+ so it's not like the media "hyping" him in trade value wasn't accurate.

Big RHD, very cheap contract, hits like a mack truck, great leader, how is that not treasured and marveled by teams looking to make a playoff push?

He didn't say Schenn was a stud RHD or anything.
I'm thinking a 2nd is what he gets. maybe a team throws in a 6th or 5th to get it done.

The fact that trading a 32 replacement level d man is up for question absolutely confirms that this management group is Benning 2.0 and at an degenerate level.

This team is 5 years away from being 5 years away. It’s such an easy decision that only the Canucks could f*** up.

I have lost faith in this team and the new management team has made Benning look good.

I honestly think that FA is behind all the indecision. He wants to compete, and we came close to the playoffs under BB last season. As long as the team is middling, FA will force any and every management group to try and make it work with the current players. Our only hope was that the poor start continued, and we had 10 points less today than we do.

Chiarot was good when the refs let him cross-check and hook everyone, pretty trash when they call it by the book. Schenn can actually defend and lay out clean hits, and he's phenomenal at breaking up 2 on 1s.

I love the coordinated efforts by the Canadian media to pump-and-dump mediocre scrub players on sinking Canadian franchises to drive up their trade value.
Sigh. If GMs are relying on media to scout for player interest/demand instead of I dunno, looking at what their pro scouts are saying, watching said players of interest, or calling GMs about price points, then they deserve what's coming when they make a trade. I doubt the "Canadian Media" has much of a sway on a players value.

As for Schenn - he's been surprisingly very good in his roles. He could slot in the 2nd pair as a real steady defender amongst all the other tangibles and intangibles listed by others. Cheap contract to boot - it's what GMs value as a premium.

Schenn is better than Chiarot and has Stanley Cup experience as a tough, third pairing defensive defenseman.

I’d feel much more confident with him than Chiarot in a third pairing role in the playoffs.

I don’t think he will get a 1st - but a 2nd or solid B prospect from a contender? Sure…seems reasonable.

Schenn, Gavrikov, Edmundson. We’re barely into December and the market seems to already be opening up wide. By the time we get into February I’m sure options will be plentiful.

Looks like it could be shaping up to be a good buyers market this year. Strong draft with elite talents at the top means bad teams will be liquidating trying to jockey for a top 5 pick. At the other end it’s looking like 3-4 contenders could really separate themselves from the pack by end of year. Given those two things it’ll be interesting to see what bubble and wildcard teams do at the deadline, they might be apprehensive about sending out 1st and 2nds for rentals this year.

I wonder if gm’s may be recognizing this and thinking it might be better to get an early jump in the market because we’ve definitely seen situations in the past where guys have waited till the end expecting better returns but get left taking whatever they can get.

Maybe true, but in Canucks case they arent in a hurry to trade Schenn or willing to give him up for spare parts.

There's lots of rumblings that if Horvat is traded then Schenn is the next captain of the Canucks .

Schenn has a minor rebirth in Vancouver, demolishes Slafkovsky, and suddenly he’s top 10 deadline trade bait. Yikes. This has Vegas all over it, though.
There was talk of this before the Habs game, so that reason is overhyped by you and you only, for some reason, nobody ever said top 10 deadline bait, dunno WTF your talking about there.

Canucks can be patient. If they receive an insane offer to move him then I think you do it.
He can also be packaged easily into a larger deal, which I think could end up being the case .
