What? No he hasn't.

I don't understand why people are under the impression that Maurice would choose to play Heinola if he could. Maurice doesn't play Heinola because inserting Heinola in the team results in only 3 players who fit Maurice's outdated idea of an effective NHL D-man who breaks up plays and clears in front of the net. Maurice makes the team worse because he thinks it improves the team to have big physical D-men play over Heinola.

Also he needs his PK dmen so can't insert him for Poolman or Forbert.

ITT I've learned we should be content that heinola gets his NHL salary sitting on his ass rather than contributing positively to our on-ice play. Holy f***

For all we know Heinola wanted to go back home because of Covid and the uncertainty of what the AHL season would look like and Chevy promised to keep him on the taxi squad for the most part even if he wouldn't get in many games so he could at least draw an NHL salary as his motivation to stick around? No clue if that is true or not but wouldn't be out of the realm of possibilities. Point is it could be a lot of things. Some of Chevys doing maybe or could be all Mo. we don't know and we are all only speculating so can be no right or wrong answers here
Just have to accept that, he wasn't (again, or yet) for NHL full duty, so not allowed to play more than one game early and late season. ( according to -the former- Coach Mo')
Wait until next season, under a new coach I am sure Chevy will push for this.

He doesn't even get his NHL salary, he gets his AHL salary to be on the taxi squad.

Only the best breed of defenceman is capable of standing in a rigid box waiting for the puck to hit them.

The more I think of it, actually takes a certain amount of creativity to find all these different ways to lose...

You are incorrect on this, that only applies to one way contracts:

"If a player is on a two-way NHL contract, he is paid his minor league salary, without any proration."

NHL to Taxi Squad to AHL Salary Structure.

So there is no salary benefit for him on the taxi squad over playing in the AHL.
Wasted year of actual playing is what this approach has turned out to be. Is not having a prospect playing valuable minutes regularly worse for his growth and improvement and development , than saving a year ELC? Lost decision in my mind. Lost Jets organization lately!

I guess the the silver lining that even with all this wasted time in the PB he has still played 49 games across all leagues and competitions this year which is what he got in last year. So he still got in enough games but he should have been used more.

I doubt Chevy is telling Maurice to play Poolman and Forbort in the top 4... Both UFA... Doubt he's telling him to play Benn over Stanley. I think it's quite obvious looking at the makeup of the roster that this is Paul Maurices team on the ice. He chooses who to play and who plays where. There are 2 many of the same examples in Maurices past history as a coach to say Chevy is telling him to play or not to play anyone. Chevy certainly has hinted at Heinola playing leading me to believe that Maurice thinks poolman Forbort and Benn are better options than Ville and Logan for that matter.

There's so many excuses for Maurice it's insane. Didn't matter when Chevy gave him 3 top RHD plus Toby and a young Josh.

All of a sudden our perennial 30 goal guys can't even hit the net? Don't look like they even care most shifts and excuses after excuses... This is Paul Maurices Jets. It's obvious

I see it differently

I think it’s a pretty blatant that Chevy wants elcs to slide. There is a 4 year plan . Maurice wheeler sheif helly etc etc.

this year doesn’t matter even though they pretend it does.

They are not teting to get elcs to slide to be cheap but to try and capitalize on them in year 3 on cheap deals in year 4 of the plan.

Chevy needs to grow a pair of Steelies and step up and admit his mistake re-upping Maurice! Shake hands, ask for his locker-room and ol 'boys club keys, and his Jets jockeys, and wish him well at SN tv desk.

Read a great article in the Athletic today where they interviewed ex jackets players about the current problems with the team. What struck me was to a man they said (paraphrasing) Torts could be a prick but at least you knew where you stood. Stars and soldiers were treated the same and that means a lot to the team. Not just lip service. Hmmm

If there is a 4 year plan, the plan is to win in the next 4 years, not win IN year 4. That's ridiculous.
