I didn't think we'd see a coaching change this close to the playoffs but how long do you wait 10, 15 losses. I have to think if it goes beyond 10 you have to.

Chipman and Thomson still counting their money to care and don't forget to renew your season tickets peasants.
If you’re that angry don’t renew or buy tickets or whatever.

Personally I don’t begrudge people having money and am glad those guys spent some of their’s bringing the Jets back. They are taking big losses this year without bitching and moaning. No one says shit about that

Are you sure on this? Like actively shopped him or just left the option open IF the right deal came along. Two hugely different things as I dont feel the Jets should have any untouchables outside of Helle.
The trade offer to Carolina for the dman . Pesche?

You kind of lose your right to 2 coach firings when you keep the 2nd guy around for 8 years.

Fair point, but I feel that the owner is somewhat involved in Moe staying. Plus knowing Chipman he likely hires Maurice to be his next GM.

did chevy want maurice to get that extension....hmmm

good question, how involved is chipman involved in the running of the team...there were rumours a number of years ago, he was invested heavily emotionally as to be outside of the dressing room after the game

Not even close to a good excuse/reason.
Heinola has already played as much games as he has in any given season. You don’t think a 19 year old wants to earn 10 X’s his salary sitting in the PB and watching the NHL team rather than playing in the minors?

Generally yes, but I think if a player is talented enough to help the team wins then they would be playing. That is typically how the Jets have handled our top young guys. Trouba, Ehlers, Laine, Conner all were played despite having their contracts eligible to slide at least an additional year. If Chevy deemed Heinola as someone that could really contribute right away he would not stand in the way of Maurice using him. You won't see them send Cole back to junior next year if he is ready to contribute despite his contract being eligible to slide once again.
I’m really only speculating as we all are. Maybe Chevy is the reason he’s not playing maybe he isn’t. None of us know. I realize I’m playing devils advocate as I want Heinola in as much as the next guy. But it is totally in the realm of possibilities that they don't want to burn a year of his ELC. At this point its the only thing that makes sense

As far as Heinola's contract sliding. If he is as talented as we all think, Chevy will lock him up after his ELC so a year really doesn't matter.
His contract would be up in 3 years and there are no current roster contracts that need to be extended that year.

I think you are wrong. there is another thing that makes sense. Maurice makes bad lineup decisions.

As long as sheif wheeler and Connor are in our top 6 both lines will not be able to play defensively against any top 6

This means Lowry line is the only like we have that can play good defence.

when we have to shelter our 1c defensively it the coach doesn’t do it it’s a recipe for disaster

We drafted so much talent everyone says. But it’s offensive talent we drafted. And it’s not working.

until pld matures and can shut down top lines or one of those players is traded and relaxed with a shut down top 6 player we won’t win a thing.

this is chevys fault more then maurices.

Of course he would rather make more money but he has as much say in it as you or I do.

We can only make the playoffs at this point if Calgary helps us. They're going to have to lose at least a couple of their last games.

so just to be clear... are you defending Maurice? do you think he is doing the best a coach can do under the circumstances?

I thought the effort was there for the Jets, but they seemed like they had no confidence at all, and couldn't score. They are panicking out there, and not making plays and scoring goals. Ottawa is 6-1 -1 in their last 8 games, so people shouldn't sell them short.

With that being said, it's time for Maurice to go, as he's had his chance, and right now looks pretty lost as to what to do. A new coach would bring a new vision, and a new look to this team.

it doesn't matter at all. it's bullshit. the guy makes the team better. we can't keep trotting Poolman, Forbort and potentially Benn out there at the same time.

I’m not defending him 100 percent. He has let this team bleed bad habits for years and years and doesn’t correct them. Sheif benching was years to late for example.

I’m just saying it doesn’t matter whst the lines are our forwards can’t play defence because Chevy drafted offence first soft players.
